well iv been babying the car for the last couple days since i got it back up . couple decent pulls here and there . but today i did a was starting a hard pull and chirped 2nd (atx)and the noise of the engine changed and bogged doen for a couple seconds. i dont know really how to explain it but when hitting boost after that it was makin a weird sound like a high pitched whine but not like a belt ,more like compressor surge type of sound. and the bov sound more high pitched too . it does this now with any amount of boost . i really cant think of what it could be . i checked ic piping , bov diaprahm , wastegate diaphram , turbo (no shaft play and it spins freely . gauges looked good ,good oil pressure ,good egts under boost and cruising, 26hg vac . i did find a small leak from the egr blockoff . can that maybe be it. i did throw a code for system too rich bank 1 but it went away when i started the car up after shutting it off . it was still makin the sound tho . car is running good from the short time i drove it after it happened but that sound is too scary to drive it.i also did a compression test for the hell of it and got 210,200.220,210 .any ideas ?

Have you done a boost leak test? You say it's leaking a little from the EGR, but I just want to make sure. You may have blew off a coupler during that pull, which will sound different, and will cause you to run rich. So do that if you haven't, and go from there.

tried the leak test with my homade tester and a stethiscope and coulnt find any leaks

Well next you might want to check/replace your plugs and maybe wires depending on how long you have had them.

would that make that sound ? the plugs and wires cant be bad cuz other than the sound the car is running good . i think i found the problem .i think it coming from the egr block off leak on the head .also a ticking sound there from the leak . its kind of hard to pinpoint it exactly tho . it doesnt make the sound by reving . only with load on it .do you think its just the egr leaking causing the high pitched sound ? im replacing the egr plate tomm . got to find some thicker steel at home depot .

If you get tired of running to home depot just buy a kit, for less than 20 bucks it worth saving the headache.
