I used to have a link to a site with different clips but lost it and am wondering what my new bov will sound like.

It's wicked loud... It doesn't whistle like the Greddy-S and it doesn't make as cool of a chuff sound like the old-skool Blitz, it's somewhere inbetween.

edit: I found a couple movies of me being a hooligan that I took a long time ago, although it's difficult for me to host them because I am stuck on dialup. However, I can strip the audio and email it to you if you'd like.

thats what I was going to say. Or imagine one of those big bouncy castles rich kids rent for their birthdays, and then shoot it with a shotgun. Its about that loud, and sounds the same.

az2gnt.net/DR1665/Daisy/weakVids/run4cvr.wmv

run4cvr, circa 2005. Stock engine, HRC2+FMIC @ 10psi.

It made it a full year at 10lbs before he lost a bunch of ring lands. been up on jack stands since October, but big things are coming for this DCP 2G. The video does not do the volume of the rfl justice. Everyone think's you're racing them.

Link will be taken down within a couple days. Thanks.

A friend of mine, sitinlo, was driving infront of me one day at about 60mph and maybe 5 car lengths up ahead of me and I heard his rfl over all the wind noise and shit from inside my car. He was boosting 18psi.

damn and that was at 10 psi!

thanks for the link, I know you said that clip doesn't really compare, but that seems bareable, I just didn't want something ridiculously loud, b/c I will probably like it for a week and then be sick of it.

If you're thinking a loud bov will annoy you after a few weeks, don't think of getting the RFL. That video definitely DOES NOT do that bov sound any justice. The bov is loud dude. I'm only at 5psi right now, and it's freaken loud to me, but I don't get sick of it, cuz i like it. I can't even imagine how it's going to sound when i add 13 more lbs.

I'm actually getting it more for a time convenience. I just picked up a star fmic and piping from a board member and it's already flanged for a turbo xs bov. I don't want to waste time finding a place to get a different flange welded on because I only have a few days between the end of school and the start of work. As long as I can drive without making it go off (even if I have to drive like an old lady) I just don't want to be pulling into a parking lot this summer blowing off at clients and scaring the crap outta them. I think I'll like it, it's part of that inner ricer in most of us lol.

EDIT: btw why are you still only on 5psi, I thought you just put in a built block. I'm assuming its a fuel system hold up. If I was you I would be so anxious to raise the boost. Especially since you ran for 3 years on 5psi.

still waiting for an intercooler. My fuel setup is good for about 15-18psi. However, gas prices will not let me boost 1psi these days.

You can use a shitload of different BOV's, If this "flange" is just a small pipe sticking out about 2" then any bov that will fit a stock turbo eclipse will fit. At least I think so. :+ cause thats the same kind of flange the hahn kit has and it comes with the stock turbo eclipse bov.

WE'll see, I'm gonna try it and if I can't stand it I'll switch it out. ANd I think you mean stock 3000gt bov.

I thought they were the same, oh well. When I ordered my blitz bov I told them it was for a 99 gst and what I got fit. The guy that I know with the rfl also has the hahn kit and his bov flange was the same as mine.

That video doesnt do the rfl justice. I have had mine on since I went turbo years ago and it was louder at 5psi. Now that Im boostin 16psi it is insane how loud it gets.

that video really dont do justice . it is way louder than that . it really sounds like the hydrolics purging or what ever that sound is from a 18 wheeler

And of course the more boost pressure you run the louder it gets. I did 22 psi with that RFL once and it is so insanely loud it's pretty obnoxious. The fact that it is so obscene is most of the novelty.

If you want a quiet bypass valve that doesn't leak just use the stock 1G one. It's a quality unit and you can modify it so it does this “quick release” thing but I haven’t actually heard one like that before.

Can you elaborate on what this means? I'm curious.

Search Tuners for "Dodge Mod".

Just to clarify further on this, you add a port that is seperated from the top (and only) port on the 1g bov. The idea behind this is if the new port on the 1g bov (the top port needs to see IC pipe pressure) sees atmospheric pressure (not hooked up to anything), it will hold any amount of boost you throw at it, but it will not "quick release". This is not ideal, as it may cause some turbo flutter as the air rushes back to the turbo. If the new port sees IC pipe pressure, then it will quick release (good for the turbo :) ) but it will not hold pressures over 17 PSI or so. So, what you can do is hook up a simple WOT switch (also called the Gus Mod). What this will do is if you are WOT, then you want the port to see atmospheric pressure, so it does not leak, but as soon as you let go of the throttle (when the bov will 'activate') you want it to see IC pipe pressure, so it will quick release as normal. What you do is get a simple 3 port solenoid, hook it up to a 12v power source, and then have it so it is only grounded when you are at WOT. Here is a very good write up with pictures on how to hook up the switch (it is on a 4g63, but the idea behind it is exactly the same):

http://newengdsm.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6904

And here is how you modify the BOV for the new port:

I am in the process of doing this for mine.

I may use the 1g if it doesn't take much to put it on and then just sell the rfl, we'll see.

edit: I must say I think it will be fun as hell to scare the shit outta people in the parking garage at my school with the rfl

Yeah, there are lots of knockoff parts out there. You will really be taking a gamble with the quality of the imitation stuff... you get what you pay for.

I didn't have any load on the engine, of course yours will be louder, lol.

nice clips guys, I don't think it's too loud, definetly bearable. My g/f finally asked why it was louder after 3 days of riding in my car, lol.
There is a weird high pitched whistle sound though after the initial pssssshhhhh, I'm not quite sure what's causing that any ideas?

I think it might still have both springs in it, idk, looks like I'll have to take it apart tomorrow and see if I can fix it.

I played with the stiffness of mine quite a bit, just adding quarter sized washers (and just the one stiff spring). It seemed when I made mine "too stiff" it made the sharp peircing whistle. You want to tune it so it's not so soft, but not so hard it's putting a high load against your turbo (unless your racing and want to hold more boost between shifts at the expense of wearing out your turbo much faster).

I basically have the RFL, but its the H34 series valve. Its an RFL, but instead of the "horn" shape on the output, its just a round fitting, for connecting a hose to, just like a stock 4g63 setup- the bypass valve. So what i did when i got it, was run it open like most of us do. It was loud, pretty cool for a while, then i got sick of it...So i then took a hose and ran that from the valve output to the turbo intake pipe. I basically re routed the bov output right back to the intake. This helps keep the turbo spooled during shifts, and it quiets it down. Its not super loud, yet not too quiet, its just perfect for my tastes..
