I know that the Walbro FP and FMU can be installed before installing all the other turbo parts. I was told you can also do that with the Missing Link. I just installed the Missing Link and 1st start up the car rev up... then drop low rpms and began to want to shut off then it shut off. 2nd start up, car rev up, drop low rpms then began staying around 800-900. I needed to go to Publix so decided to see if anything would happen... well around 4,300-4,500 rpms I felt a lack of hp and the car began feeling like it was choking. So I took off the Missing Link and the car is running like it was running before. Was I suppose to install this after hooking up all the rest of the turbo parts? I didn't hear any vaccum leak, just the little hole on the side of the missing link sucking in air.

Decided to re-intall it and make sure everything is tight. The idle did the same thing, rise, lope, drop and come back up to 900-1,000 rpms. Turned the car off, turned it back on and it started acting like it wanted to shut off then it jumped idle and stay at 900 rpms. So I decided to take it for a test drive. 2nd gear I hit 4,000 rpms and it felt like I hit fuel cut and the car started to choke up and didn't want to go anywhere till I let off. So turn around went home took off the Missing Link and the car is idling fine, took it for a drive... 2nd gear 4k was running fine... took it 4.5k 2nd gear running fine. Did I buy a faulty Missing Link?

I really don't trust those missing links, I had a similar problem. Mine would idle fine, but driving normally, suddenly my MAP sensor(reading off of my s-afc) would read like WOT, even if I let off the gas completely. My boost/vac gauge still showed lots of vac. If I pulled it out of gear, or came to a stop, the engine would die. After talking with the guy that makes them many times trying to fix it, he stopped replying to my emails when I asked for a refund, so I said screw it and bought an electrical voltage clamp.

You shouldn't have any problem installing it before you install your turbo, I mean it would be no different then if you had the turbo on and drove around carefully without hitting boost. Your car shouldn't just die.

Hmmm... so then I can assume I was sold a bad Missing Link? Should I go with a FCD then? I mean what would be the logical thing to do for this situation. I'll be contacting the person I bought it from. I can only assume its bad because of the way my car was acting with it on and taking it off the car ran fine again.

yea a homemade voltage clamp is best . but ur problem with the missing link is 2 things . 1st you have to put a filter that comes with the missing link in the lttle hole. without it its like a vac leak and it will do exactly what u said it was doing . 2nd after installing the ml u need to reset the ecu

Didn't know I had to reset the ecu. I used the filter, but the filter looks like its missing some pieces off of it. Is there any chance I could buy another filter or I am still out of luck? I'm thinking of going with a FCD.

you can trim down a cigarette filter and use it

My missing link sounded the same way, i could hear the whistle out the side of the hole, then realized the filter is supposed to go in the side.....works just fine, make sure you have everything installed right

Did you mean on the side of the hole or inside the missing link? I had the filter inside the missing link. A right up would help with pictures... I got mine used with no instructions. I did order a FCD from someone on here so if I can't get the missing link to work then its fine. I have another RS I'm building a turbo kit for, I'll try it on that one.

its supposed to go in the small hole on the side not inside the ml .a tiny filter maybe a 1/4'' long . thats definitly y its not working right .

Ahhh, lol call me dumb don't know anything about those things. Well I did order a FCD from someone. But I'll try installing it the way you said then, if it works I'll use the FCD for the other stage 2 kit I'm building for my girlfriends car. Thanks for the help!

boosted60trimrst thanks a lot! I just installed it and took it for a test drive and its idling and running fine. Hopefully when its boosted the ml does its job. Thanks again!!! Points given!

You can also trim some of the seat foam from the bottom of the back seat and use that too. Or go with megasquirt and not use anything? :)
