I have one problem though. I am not an EE meaning i don't know which way the diode should be facing. Should the red taped side face the potentiometer or should the white side face it? Help on this would be great. and do you think 22 gauge wire will provide a great enough electrical flow so shit doesn't get fucked up?

Ok I know someone out there had to make the FCD the way I am trying it. So someone has to know which way the diode must go. Help on this is greatly needed. And some ideas to where you placed the casing would be nice as well.

Well, I've made one, (and it works fine) but I don't want to answer wrong and I don't remember exactly all the colors. But here it goes:

On the diode, there should be a band around it. It's not in the middle, it's on one side. Take that side and that's the side closer to the potentiometer.

22 gauge wire? I suppose it'll work, since it's just a signal wire. I used some old wiring harness wire, so I don't remember the size. I'd be more comfortable with something a little thicker, like 18 gauge if it were me.

I bought a box from Radio nutsack (their small project box-http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062279&cp=2032058&f=Taxonomy%2FRSK%2F2032058&categoryId=2032058&kwCatId=2032058&kw=project+box&parentPage=search) drilled a hole in the side where I ran my wires through, made the unit, hot glued it to one side of the box, sealed it up with some silicone and screws, put a piece of velcro on it and stuck it to the flat piece of metal right behind the passenger shock tower on the firewall. It had a plate of metal there for the car's information, but I didn't care so I just stuck it there. Plus it's nice and close to the MAP sensor.

To tune it, I took the map sensor out, I hooked up a voltmeter to the MAP clamp, took my compressor and gently gave it "boost". Then I tuned the potentiometer down so it read about 4.67 volts.

I don't know if that helps or what but I will take a look when I get home and see if I can figure out what the hell you are talking about. As far as calibrating this device. Is there another way because I don't have a compressor and I am not sure if I can get a hold of one. I was thinking about installing everything and then installing the FCD last. That way I could run the car and try to calibrate it with the motor running. I don't think that will work so any suggestions would be great. Thanks

The accurate way to calipbrate the FCD is to use a Multimeter on the Map wire and ground. You can blow onto the map sensor to simulate 1psi. the voltage on the map signal cannot exceed 4.7v I set mine to 4.63v for safety. you will have to recalibrate it in fall as well then you wont have to touch it again.

Forced is correct with the banded end of the diode

Yes. You solder them in series, with both banded ends pointed towards the potentiometer.

So I installed my homemade fcd and still am not seeing boost for some reason. I put the diodes on there in series with the black band facing toward the potientiometer. I tuned it to 4.6 like the dodge neon since I have one of their shity motors. Can any take a shot as to what is wrong with this freaking thing. I am thinking that this is set fine. I think my problem is with my internal wastegate because there really isn't that much air being "sucked" into the turbo inlet. What is everyone's elses thoughts?

the homemade fcd is for fuel cut. if your cars not seeing boost u got another problem . check piping and hoses for a vac leak maybe

Are you driving it around, or just revving it? If you're just sitting there revving it, you'd be lucky to make a psi or two. You need to drive it. As ^^ said, the FCD is to prevent the map sensor from freaking, it doesn't create boost and thus isn't the cause of your problem. You need to investigate leaks starting at the exhaust manifold. For example, when I first put mine together, it wouldn't boost (still doesn't cuz I haven't had time to fix it) because when I welded everything together, some sealing surfaces got warped. I have to take it apart and have everything milled so it doesn't leak. You could have a problem like that if you welded and custom made a manifold.

check the intake piping . maybe wastegate is stuck open .

Does it pull hard even tho the guage isn't seeing boost? I had same problem a while back, turned out to be pinched vacuum line.

nope pulls like shit....litterly... A stock eclipse would be 10 times faster than me right now. I have no pull at all. I use to be able to hit 85mph in third gear. Now I can bearly hit that regardless of the gear. so any suggestions would be great.

Ok so here is the update on the whole project. Everything is running, boost gauge has a pinch in the vacuum line. Besides that it boosts just not sure yet, because I am working on the line problem. But I had my buddy calibrate the FCD because I was working and he told me that the 4.63 ran like shit and that it ran better when it was closer to 1. What is the deal with that? Was he just being stupid and calibrating the wrong two wires or what? I have also have a 2.5 exhaust on the car and will be upgrading to 3in this weekend. The car back fires a bit if you jump on the gas. And I am currently running stock injecters and 12:1 fmu. Any ideas on what is going on?

Either construction of the FCD was not correct or you have another issue. Could be your friend calibrating it wrong.
