93768, High boost Posted by peter2.slow, Mar-10-06 02:23 AM
OK my goal is 350-400whp. Sounds alot right...thats because it is.
I am determined to get what I want and I want to do it the right way. Track times aren't as important as the numbers I put to the wheels, atleast for the time being.
OK modlist
Built motor JE 8:8:1 pistons Eagle Rods Cometic HG ARP Head Studs 3 angle valve Job Prothane Motor mounts
Transmition SPEC stage 4 modular clutch with TOB
Bolt on mods
Garret style t3/t4 turbo .50 trim non BB(interally gated) Tubular manifold Big FMIC 2.5'' hard pipes Greddy Type RS BOV 3'' cat back (press bent) 3'' DP Greddy TT
Fuel System Precision 780cc injectors 1:1 AFPR Megasquirt 2.2 with fuel/spark mods walbro 255 lph pump DSM resistor pack.
Meth injection is in my future for Higher boost
I want to run 15 daily 20 race psi for a while until I get meth then turning it up. Is the power Im looking for attainable with my modlist

I would say at a quick glance, yes.
Although I would put an LSD in that tranny or you'll never put it to the ground.

He only wants it to the wheels, remember track times aren't important and thats where putting it to the ground comes into play ;)

Hehehe.....well here's my point. With 350-400 whp on tap, he'll have a hard time keeping his foot out of it. He'll blow through 1st and 2nd every time if he wants to. With one wheel spinning, his diff pin is gonna hate him.
Plus a number 11 looks a lot cooler than a number 1 when you take off. ;)

Ok track times aren't a concern to me yet*
I want to get the power first. Its hard to launch FWD espesially with a big turbo. For example if with a good driver my car ran a 13.6 I could probably get like a 14 flat or worse. So I would just rather know Ive got the power.

If you're really going for that much power, get a 3.55 trans, put an LSD in and a clutch and you're good for the tranny side. (although, you might look at axles if you start breaking them)
The 3.55 gearing will give you better traction in the lower gears, plus load the turbo a bit better.

You'll probably need a bigger turbo for 400wHP on 20psi.
|
93775, RE: High boost Posted by peter2.slow, Mar-10-06 07:35 AM
sure about that?
My friend made 320 awhp on a ported 14b on his talon. grant it the 14b will spool up alot faster than my .50 trim I think I can pull 400whp on this turbo. With meth i can run higher boost, maybe 23-25 psi.

i can attest to the LSD thing
while you are at it might be a good idea to upgrade your axles as well
that hp range would be pushing stock ones

I have always thought about LSD but Im not really sure about it yet. Plus didn't HRC's 2gnt-t run on stock axels?
|
93791, RE: High boost Posted by customrsturbo, Mar-11-06 03:26 AM
Stock axles are OK on the srteet for that HP level, but at the track they will last you couple of runs. That is if you add LSD, drag radials and good clutch to put the power to the pavement. If getting the PG, get the golden(stiffer) springs. For me it's been working good so far.

Hey I saw your car run in that video on DSM tuners. Thats awesome that your running 12's do your run Nitrous or Meth and what boost are you at?

93793, RE: High boost Posted by WIDECLIPSE, Mar-11-06 06:33 AM
I also think that turbo is going to be to small at that boost level. Why not go with a 57 trim or a 60 instead? They're not that much more expensive, and I'm pretty sure you will hit your goal then. And a bigger turbo is better for traction down low.
|
93794, RE: High boost Posted by peter2.slow, Mar-11-06 07:03 AM
Well my turbo says .57 trim but the compressor inlet tapers down like 1/4 inch so another .57 trim compressor housing would be too big. So I estimate that its really a .50 trim. For even cheaper I could get a bigger/better wheel and housing for more boost.

Where on DSM Tunner? I'm running 26psi and 93 with octane booster. No nitrous.

they also have a neon tranny installed

No, the HRC Eclipse had a Neon 3.55 trans and Driveshaft Shop halfshafts.

So what kind of octane booster.
|
93808, RE: High boost Posted by customrsturbo, Mar-13-06 03:25 PM
You can get Lucas Oil Octane Booster. ALso, to keep the coolant temperature lower, use Lucas Oil Water Wetter.

I would go with a GT30 turbo, that would be best to use with the 2.0. Also get a Quaife LSD, everyone says the same thing "i dont need an LSD" "oh i will get it later" blah blah. Trust me you need an LSD and you will regret not putting it in when you had the engine out. Pull the engine, pull the tranny, buy a 3.55 and put an LSD in it. What sense does it make if you create all that power but can't use it??

93815, RE: High boost Posted by XMasta19, Mar-14-06 05:28 AM
hmm...this just clicked in my head. You're running the Precision injectors with megasquirt, yet you're using a dsm resistor pack? Last time I checked, didn't you just change the injector characteristics from saturated to peak and hold :shrug

93820, RE: High boost Posted by peter2.slow, Mar-14-06 09:08 AM
Right you are X; however, I have a 4g63 fuel rail on my lower Intake manifold and the 1:1 FPR that megasquirt needs from my prev setup. Also I have a DSM Resistor pack so its taken care of.

Care to explain this statement?

93835, RE: High boost Posted by peter2.slow, Mar-15-06 11:37 AM
Yeah Im curious as well. BB turbo's spool up to quick for our FWD making my 1/4 time slower.
