93185, Question About Building Boost Posted by EclipseTenzoR, Feb-05-06 07:26 PM
Ok, simple question here maybe you all can help me with. When I use to drive my car I would try and get the turbo to spool while in park so I could have the bov go off. It never did it unless i really revved all the way up. Like if I went to the normal spool point at 3200 rpms for full spool. The boost gauge would still show under vacume or just dead at 0 or 1-2 psi. Would my car being in park have anything to do with it not spooling? I mean rpms still push out all the pressure which should theoretically make the turbo spool the same but whats the deal? Anyone think they can answer this?

You need an actual load for the turbo to fully blow off in part, meaning it has to be on Drive, especially true if you have a low boost set up.

me neither, gotta get some load in it, no offense but i think it's really ricey when people roll through a crowded area with their stock turbo's and just give a BOV salute to everyone there thinking yeaaaaa im so cool, but really they just look like a tool. I shake my head at them.

I wanted it to blow off because ricers always rev at me in hondas. So I'd like to give them a salute back.

Yea thats really gay.
Thats when you just drive away shaking your head not getting down to thier ricer level.
LOL
I really personally, truely think that is a sad thing to do.
There are a lot more important things in life than a BOV salute lol
It's really really gay.

We have already come to a conclusion on this in a previous post I made last year.
If your running a smaller turbo, you can get your BOV to go off at an idle.
If your running a bigger turbo (ie t3/t4 like most have on here that i see) its harder to build a load at idle.
