I'm getting ready to install my 14b setup. I know there is a writeup on here for the wastegate actuator arm to be set so the wastegate opens at a lower psi since I'm on stock internals.

I have bought a homemade MBC from a fellow 2gnt-er. I was wondering if I should set the wastegate to open at like 3 or 4 psi, and then just mess around with MBC to run what i feel like running (up to 8psi) for that time period???

Am I missing something because I read that a MBC restricts the vaccum pressure so there is actually more psi that is building before the wastegate opens. But as I understand it the MBC doesn't work in the opposite situation. You can't have a wastegate spring that is set to open at 10psi and have a MBC that is set at 7psi and actually have the wastegate open at 7psi, correct???

If I am right, and have not misunderstood, than I think setting the wastegate to open low and then use my MBC to control the psi is my best bet since I will have a larger range of control. Any opinions/suggestions/criticisms are welcome.

sounds about right. Set the spring to open at 3-4 psi and use your MBC to control how much more boost you want to see...

Yea thats exactly what I did. Without my MBC my wastegate opens at 3 psi. but I used the MBC to raise it to 8 psi.

so if you loosen the wastegate arm ittl make it open earlier?

What? No, you put pressure on the arm pushing away from the actuator via a spring you put on the arm, and that will make the wastegate open earlier.

I just modded mine and did so w/o any cutting/welding...it's pretty simple actually. I wrote a tech article for it on tuners, but the site is being ghey and won't let me post it.

Can i just not mod the actuator and just run the mbc?

if you don't mod the actuator your gonna run whatever the stock boost is for the 14b which i think is around 12psi (someone correct me if i'm wrong) regardless its more than you should boost on a stock bottom end, so your gonna have to mod it
