ive been reading and seeing that alot of people have been using ford injectors and was wondering what kind and do u have to do any mods to fit them thanks alot

plug and play, no modifications required (except fuel management). green top. 440cc.

usually Ford motorsport red #30 aka Mustang red are the most commonly used with stage II kit

Be careful with some of the ford injectors. I have seen some guys list the turbo Thunderbird injectors on ebay. They are brown top and low impedance so they require a resistor pack to operate. If your buying new injectors then you shouldnt have an issue with any of the mustang injectors.

I have not looked into the 4.6L injectors so i cant comment on them but any of the 95 and older style from the 5.0 are the same as ours as far as fitment.

yea I've got about a dozen 450 green tops at the shop...just neeed to be cleasned up and good to go. 8 are for sale if interested.

Obviously not ALL Ford injectors work.

However, the Green-top 440cc (42#) and the Red-top 310cc (30#) injectors from SVT mustangs and F150 lightnings work great, and cost nearly half as much as aftermarket brands. Usually about $25/injector brand new.

The Red 310cc injector will drop right in and work. The Green 440cc is also a drop in, but running stock fuel pressures will cause you to run rich. Usually you only need the Green if you are running more than 12psi boost, and have a SFMU or some other way to lower your idle fuel pressure.

Our stock injectors are 235cc/22# so even the 24# White-top would be a great safety measure for a stage 1 kit.


The injectors that would work in our car (bosch high impedance) are marked with TWO grooves around the right(top) side of the injector. In the pic above, only the "19# stock mustang", "24# Ford trucks", "30# Tbird Super Coupes", and "42# Lighnting Trucks" injectors have the correct grooves.

I am running the green top ligthning 42lb injectors, plug in and drive, after getting the idle pressure right.

Are those just as reliable as accel or rc injectors that are made for the 420a? If they are thats a steel

Mine have been great, no problems. Got them off ebay for cheap and they were a set of 8 brand new. I sold the other 4 so you almost can get your money back if you sell them.

So I'm guessing just the o-rings would need to be replaced on the ford injectors with 2gnt o-rings for a direct fit?

The o-rings are a direct fit.

They are every bit as "reliable" but have slightly worse spray patterns at very low fuel pressures. I could only go down to ~18psi fuel pressure before I started getting atomization problems, where an equivalent RC 440 would have no problem going down to ~12psi.

But for $25/injector brand new for 440's, it really is a steal.

so are #42 equal to a 440cc injector? What is a #36 in cc?
