ok so i am staring at this box i got from hahn trying to figure out just where i am going to stick this thing. i am thinking inside the car behind the passenger seat because my engine bay is pretty cramped already

where did everyone else that has one put theirs?


also in reading some old posts on the software comparing the PF to corbins 8 injector set up i noticed a difference that i didnt see anyone talk about. one person said that he was using the 034 EIC software to tune his portfueler but
the PF has an input for a boost source. all i saw was an input for a tach signal on the EIC controller wiring from the corbin page
will this make a difference in the software?

i dont have any experience with the hahn software or the standard EIC software so I was just wondering

Mine's mounted behind the glove box ... but I don't have a real glove box. Just the cover.

You can't use the EIC software to connect to the PF. You'll have to use the splitsec software (you get it from HRC). The EIC also has a boost source. All of the EICs that we can use have a boost source. Its very important to have that because we only fire our 2ndary injectors under positive pressure. Just use the instructions that come iwth the PF software to tune it.

both have sources for the boost signal.

Try mounting it by the ECU, cruise control box, top of firewall.

I put my 034 behind the radio in the center consol on the floor, kinda pinned under the shift cables...there is quite a bit a space back there. XtremeRS made just enough harness for me to reach there.

(they forgot to send me my disc so i havent been able to check it out yet)

Is the HRC Portfuler EIC waterproofed? I've never seen one before so I have no idea.

The 034EIC isn't waterproofed, at least mine wasn't. The case didn't seal air tight by any means and there was no gel/potting compound that the board was dipped in like with the stock ECU.

Yeah it's totally waterproofed.. Even if you take the cover off to access the serial port, the board is coated in a black plastic..

I mounted mine to the side of the fuse box just above the stock intake fender hole... I made a bracket where I can flip it up to access the screws easier, and remove my air filter without loosining the intake pipe..

Sounds like HRC. Their FCD is like that too, god forbid anyone is able to take something apart improve on the original design.

In that case you can mount it anywhere where the tempature is between 0 and 70C, assuming they used commercial grade (cheapest) electronics which have the narrowest tempature range.

are (were) you still able to get to it so you could program the tuning cable. plus i still have my cruise box in the way.
i need to get rid of that someday since i found a crack in my vacuum box when i took off my lower plenum a few days ago.

i just dont want to have to go buy a new cable for the
throttle

i zip tied mine next to the ecu so if i want it off, all i have to do is snip

i was thinking about velcroing it to the to of the power steer fluid lid. it gets it low enough to clear the trunk plus lets it lay flat so i can get to the screws

i am almost finished with the installation except for the electronics so hopefully i will have this thing running soon.
the software looks complicated in the instruction manual i hope that it is easier when it is actually on the screen working

Yes, it's very easy to use.. It's pretty much a large spreadsheet with imputs in each box.. You can adjust each box, the entire row, column, or entire graph.. The baselines are pretty good, but each application is different, so the fine tuning with a DL is always good..

*If there was an imput to "Learn" or auto adjust on the fly to a DL, it would be the shizzle..* This would be really helpful in switching types of gas without having to switch maps.. But if this were the case, there'd be no need for a standalone then.. Ohh well...

yeah you can still plug in the data cable.
