91721, Help me please, listen to my problem Posted by 98dsmNT, Dec-02-05 04:37 AM
Ok well im in the process of turboing my 420a motor in my eclipse. i ordered a 14b turbo from a guy off DSMtuners.com. the guy said that the turbo had 30k miles on it and there were no cracks or shaft play. well i got it today and to my dissapointment he lied. the exhaust housing has no shaft play so thats good but the compressor has alot..so much in fact that i can hear a *ting every time the fans hit the wall of the compressor. then the exhaust housing has cracks all up and through the exhaust pathway...i dun think thats all that much of a big deal i dunno but i know the shaft play is really bad. i wired the money through paypal....WHAT CAN I DO NOW?

What can you do, here are some suggestions:
1. Stop typing in caps...we all have issues, yours is no important than anyone elses.
2. File a claim as already stated.
3. if you paid through paypal with a credit card then file a claim with the Credit card also.
4. contact the seller for a refund.
Good luck to ya, really sucks

File a complaint but nothing will probably happen if it's been too long.
Or just suck it up cause that's what you get most of the time when you buy cheap, used shit of people you don't know.

Is he a well respected member of dsmtuners? Maybe you should post over there if they have a "bad guys" section like we do here. Maybe a little heat from the fellow boys will get him to cough up the money.
Sorry man, that sucks.

Good luck man. In the future, escrow companies work well. I just bought a shortblock from a 2GNT guy and it worked perfectly. I'm working on turbo purchase now.

Since you touched the topic, how does an escrow acct work and how did you set it up?
I know i have one for the taxes on my house but have no idea how to set it up.

Terry- Go to www.escrow.com and read up about the process. I used it when I bought my turbo kit from Lotalon back in the day since he was in Canada and it works great. Basically they hold the funds from the buyer and notify the seller to ship the agreed upon goods. When the buyer receives the goods he/she has a certain time window to inspect and approve/disapprove the goods. At that point the escrow company releases the funds to the seller. Its almost fool-proof. It does cost a little bit more, but for big-ticket items it is so worth it. Just make sure you use a well established escrow providor. I use escrow.com since they were recommended by my bank as well as by ebay.

If you want an order on how to do things do this:
1. Stop typing in caps...we all have issues, yours is no important than anyone elses.
2. Contact the seller for a refund - paypal will make you pay for shipping so tell him you will pay for shipping back to him but you want a full refund. Don't threathen him with "my lawyer will contact you" BS. Just be nice and tell him the problems. Don't even mention filing a complaint or a chargeback (at least in the first email).
Only when #2 fails - 3. File a claim as already stated. - You will file a "SNAD (significantly not as described) claim on paypal. They "may" make you take the item to a professional to verify your SNAD claim. Sometimes they will tell you to just ship it back to the seller. Make sure you use a shipping method that is trackable such as UPS or Fedex. (I prefer fedex)
Only when #3 fails - 4. if you paid through paypal with a credit card then file a claim with the Credit card also. - If PayPal fails you then you file a claim with your credit card. Your credit card will make you do the same steps paypal did but you have a much better shot at winning.
