90754, Turbo install update!!!
Posted by joeck76, Oct-19-05 10:03 AM
Well ive finally recieved everything i needed for the full install i think:scratch
anyone who reads this any feedback would be greatly appreciated. anyway, i decide to go with a hahn back bone, everything i have for my kit is in my sig. if im missing anything crutial please inform me b4 i start her up. Ive runt the oil feed line tapped the oil return line and ran that, did the walbro 255 install, installed my fmu 12:1 ratio, left the stock plugs in, installed the manifold and turbo and hooked everything up that was ness. installed downpipe. hooked up all gauges and now im at the intercooler set up part, i had the greddy flange mounted already and i have the hahn smic piping all 3. my question is i have a 2g gsx smic and i wanna use that, hahns pipes are set up for both pipes on one side? is it as simple as me just adding a piece of pipe from say an old laying around cai or something and fitting it in or am i way off here? im expecting to be up and boosting by next week, i coud do the rest tonight but im working crazy hours. also i dont think i forgot anything but if anyone sees anything im missing that i really need please tell me.
By the way, i have a built bottom end, je pistons/ eagle rods 8.8:1
and im only gonna be running about 6 psi for now. thanx for any help and i cant wait to feel the difference, as of now my biggest power change has been my udp so im told im in for it!!! thanx guys & girls

I suspect you'll probably have a bit of trouble getting the piping to match up with the GSX SM, but hopefully not. Hahn usually builds their stuff to be kind of specific to their applications. Good luck.

hopefully not but if i got to fork out the money for their smic than i guess i will but id like to get the gsx one to work. should just be a little fabricating of a small piece of pipe like a u pipe or something?? ill see havent looked much into it yet
but thanx for the heads up

Well im about 99% compleete now, everything is in and secured, i started her up today briefly and now heard the difference the turbo makes. i let the engine reach full op temp and hit the rpms a few times up to about 5500 - 6000 rpms. not sure if im sappose to do that but man did my exhaust sound sweet as did the lovely new type s bov sound. i wanted to take the car out for its first run but im not totally happy with my choice of walmart vac lines so im gonna get them replaced tommorrow lol. also not 100% happy with my intercooler cuplers either so im gonna order some known good ones, all and all i think everything went good and after inspecting every connection after letting my car cool back down i found no leaks anywhere. no that i heard the difference i cant wait to feel it. more updates tommorrow. boost gauge reading 8psi

Hit me up next year when you are ready, not only would it be nice to help a fellow member out but it would be nice to know theres actually one that lives within driving distance. its really not a bad process i just been doing it between taking car of my 1 year old and working about 90+ hours a week next time will be a breeze.

Well as most of you know i been working on my turbo install for the past 3 weeks between work and all and it all paid off today. After replacing my vac lines i started her up and took her for her first spin. I cannot begin to explain the difference in power it is far better than i expected. An experiance ill never forget when it first kicked in, i can see this bug getting me in trouble. Ive driven plenty of fast cars b4 but nothing could prepair me for this, i never would believe my slow car would have has much power as i felt today, it actually throws me back in my seat, this is awsome.i couldnt get out of my car today im like a kid with a new toy. My car runs so incredably great right now. sorry for the long post im just overwelmed and will be kickin myself in the azz for not doing this first! I have 8Psi and plenty of room to grow if wanted but i like the feel of what i got now.

i feel you man, believe me its well worth the wait, also to everyone else is it normal to boost at different levels? like sometimes it kicks in and im reading like 5psi and sometimes 8 and sometimes 6 that kinda thing but it usually goes up to 8 at full throttle. i would assume its normal because it all depends on how much you get on it but im not 100 % sure. thanx in advance

Thanx
trust me after all the money spent and the grease and busted knuckles, its all worth it in the end. the end result is priceless. im lovein everytime i get in my car now more and more. i no longer have to look at the tail pipe on the gs oz edition to make sure its not really a gs-t, or worry about the infamous mustangs. i know theres faster cars out there (way faster) however since going turbo i feel alittle more like im in a performance car and not a nice looking pinto cause face it our cars n/a no matter what you do are slow as hell even down hill at full throttle with every mod you can bolt on your still slow. Its like i know i didnt but it almost feels like i doubled my hp like i took 2 of my cars and made one. Good luck with your journey and hope things work ut for you, youll have fun with the intercooler piping.oil lines are a breeze 20 min tops

Take the fitting your going to use, and have it welded at a local shop for like 15 bucks, then you know its leak free.
