1. Can I use a Vortech FMU stand alone without factory FPR? I thought I read somewhere that the Vortech FMU was dependent on the stock FPR is this true?

2. I am waiting for my Walboro to come in. Can I use my stock fuel pump without causing major harm if I am easy on the car?

1) No, the vortech fmu goes in line on the rubber return line between the stock fpr and the fuel pump

2) if you want to do everything else first that's fine but don't let the car see boost, i had a gsx pump and it wasn't enough i thought it was my fmu and bought an sfmu instead, fp still didn't go past 75psi, bought the walbro and that made a world of difference, i was lucky i caught it early cause i definetly would have blown my engine i drove around for a good month and a half with the turbo on but no boost because of this problem, plus if you get everything else done and you are just waiting for the walbro you shouldn't have to wait more than a couple of days and then the pump takes max an hour to install

Well today I had my car on a lift for an alignment and I went out in the shop and tried to install my hard fuel return line. Well it looks like there is no way to get it up there without putting it near the downpipe or the axle. So I am just going to forget mounting it at the firewall, and buy an SFMU and mount it under the car where the stock fpr was. What do you guys think. Guy who is selling it says it has a 12:1 disc. Is this sufficent for 5psi and up to what level? Can I buy a set of discs for this like a rebuild or whatever supposdly he lost the rest. Anyway please let me know. I got the walboro today so tommorow I will install that and thats it. Since I will be waiting for this sfmu.

You're kidding right?
I hope so.

EDIT:
Its time for you to take it to a shop or pay a local to help you out. Maybe bribe em with some beer and brats... I'm seriously not trying to be a dick on this one, but this seems to be beyond your CURRENT tuning/wrenching abilities...

Before I installed my turbo kit I hadn't ever even changed my own oil, and it works :D

But that being said, You need to work on your problem solving skills and figure more of this out on your own. I really took my time on mine and reasoned through everything on my own, with only a little trial and error; you should do the same. If you need to ask questions every step of the way like this, this project is doomed.

I will agree with you Chris.

Man, everything you need to know about setting up your fuel system has been answered atleast 5 times. DO NOT mount your SFMU where the freakin stock one is, thats just stupid, lol. Your going to have a hell of a time adjusting that thing that way. Just listen to everything we have told you. You would be done by now.

http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=VEOS&Product_Code=6X100-001&Category_Code=FC

if you have the time this weekend and your not sure if your gonna have 2 full days at another point in the next couple weeks install your kit and spend the extra $10 for rubber fuel line, clamps and some electrical or duct tape to wrap around the line to protect it while you are waiting for your sfmu this way then all you have to do is take some time and replace the cartech with the sfmu and remember the extra money you spend you will at least be able to get some of it back if you sell the cartech on ebay.

Also are you getting the ss lines from the guy your getting the sfmu from and did he have it on an eclipse? If not then check out this site and order everything it says too (costs under $120 shipped from summit and another 15-20 from vortech) http://www.2gnt.com/nuke/modules.php?name=Sections&op=viewarticle&artid=82
^^^most useful thing when i got and installed my sfmu simple and to the point

btw the 12:1 disc is what you should be needing for now unless if you have larger injectors which you shouldn't because you have no way of controlling your fuel pressure

edit: as said above do not mount your sfmu under the car, getting the sfmu is not going to change anything with your hard line, you need ss lines if you want some flexibility to run it however you want, also you shouldn't need more than 15' of the ss line i just got one 15' piece and it was fine

Well how did you guys mount the return line? I am not mounting it near my axle and I am not mounting near the downpipe I'm not trying to kill myself. What you need to understand is we own a fucking dsm. No project will ever go smoothly... EVER. So before I jump into this and fuck up the whole car I want to have shit figured out before I take it off. But I may just pay the $1,200 at the local mechancis crack chop and pay him to put the fucking kit on..

You are blowing this waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy out of proportion!!!!

Doing the fuel system is easy peasy. I had no clue what I was doing so I printed out the directions off the MODS and me and my room mate did the whole thing in 2 hours and that includes a trip to the parts store.

Look at the stock feed line. Just follow right next to it with the return. It shouldn't be going close to the axle, the downpipe, the cat, or the exhuast (the stock feed isn't even remotely close to these).

Just because it's a DSM doesn't mean things can't go smoothly. Things don't go smoothly when you don't take your time and plan things out. Just be patient and take your time coming up with good solutions to the potential problems that you have or may encounter.

don't give up, 1200 is a lot of dough to just drop on something that is mostly just bolting on shit. it may take some time and somethings may be a bit of a pain in the ass to figure out and do, but i must say i am so glad i did my own install not only do you save money but you understand more of how the whole system works so when you have a problem you don't have to immediately go running back to the shop to let them ass rape you.

If you are really worried about doing the fuel system, the easiest way to get around it is to get a regular fmu with a 12:1 disc then all you have to do is replace the rubber line going from the stock fpr to the tank with a new piece that has the fmu in line and then run a vac line back to the fmu, shouldn't take more than 20 minutes to do

like i said before too, if i'm around i can give you a hand

Yeah the fuel is EASY! I actually installed it a month before the turbo, downpipe and the big stuff.

If you want, you can fly me in from CA, and I'll do the install for you (room and food you provide) :P Just pic me up from the airport!
