What are you guys using for this gasket??

I've tried Mr. Gasket shit for headers and stuff. I get all the bolts on the flange tight and then 1 week later my gasket is shot. WTF?

I know if it's not tight it'll burn away the gasket but shit, I've fixed it 3 times now and it keeps on going. :shrug

Would a metal one work better or will it burn away too??

I use a MLS one. Pretty similar to an MLS headgasket. Works MUCH MUCH better. A dealer SHOULD be able to get you one. I am on the hunt at my dealer tomorrow for one.

I believe that he is refering to the gasket between the turbo and the Manifold so the dealer wouldn't be able to help.
Try using fel-pro part number es72811. Its the gasket kit for a 88 ford thunderbird turbo coupe. It comes with a nice stainless gasket for the turbo to manifold. It also only costs about 7$. I did blow one up but that was due to my manifold cracking, not the fault of the gasket.

Edit: I did not see that you are using a T25. If that is the case then you DO need to order from the dealer. I have no idea how much they are.

The fel-pro gasket is for the T3 series of turbochargers.

Take it all apart and get the flanges machined flat and then just run without a gasket.

Been there done that, the metal would eventually warp, so this won't last forever.

Maybe get them machined to accept O-rings? That is probably quite expensive, though, but I absolutely hate gaskets (O-rings save a lot of rebuild time) and O-rings are starting to appear in a lot of high end builds.

I always get mine at Ford. They are MLS gaskets. Tell them it's for a late 80's Ford Thunderbird (turbo 4 cyl.)

Tim, what do you mean copper gasket? A premade one for your specific turbine or did you make one yourself?

I called the GM dealership and asked them to look for the 89 Sunbird 4cyl turbo. It also runs a t25 and the parts guy said there was no listing for a gasket there on any of the model years and that they run w/o a gasket.

I have a brand new Turbonetics gasket that came with my new turbo when I got it 3 months ago, its for a t3 though, dont know if this will help you or not, but if you want it, i will sell it to ya :shrug

I got this turbo off a lawnmower. ;) You think a T3 gasket will work :P :P
