8971, Quick Question on Car Warranty Posted by immigrantRyder, Nov-07-01 04:53 PM
Not for me, but for my girl's brother,
He has a 2000 Civic Ex, With a Greddy Turbo Kit on there (or at least had)and 2 wks ago his engine just stopped working in the middle of the freeway. It just shut off, Check Engine light came on, and died, We pushed it over and got it towed to his house, Popped open the hood and it was fine, No smoke or Oil, Next we returned everything to stock on his car, I mean everything, Turbo kit off, altezza's, rims, body kit, and took it to the local honda dealership. Well turns out he bent 3 rods, and the honda tech said that it was because he sucked up some water, and that his 3 year 36000 mile warranty won't cover it, Is this Bull?? Thanks guys
BTW he was running a Greddy Stage 2 at 6psi, never above that, or so he says

I know most new cars come with at least a 3 years or 36k miles 'BUMPER TO BUMPER' warranty. Meaning that if anything goes wrong between the front bumper to the back bumper, they WILL cover it. Most car service dealers are a bitch when it comes to warranty work.

Well, mine (eclipse) sucked up water through CAI in a heavy rainy day, and engine just stopped! I realized what caused it before going to dealership, so I re-installed stock air filter, etc, but they noticed at one look!!! There's no way for engine to suck up water in stock shape without damaging other things..... elecs, etc. No WARRANTY!!!! costed me almost 5 grand. Now mine with short ram intake. Be aware!!!!!
