Hahn makes nice complete kits, and the big thing is that their behind their products 100%. They're all race proven by Hahn themselves and that means extensive longterm testing so they have a great support center when you need it.

you just need to get yourself the hrc stage 2 if you got a craving for speed. I've had mine for about a month and I still just love how fast it is. No problems yet, everything's cool, except the LOUD fuel pump, but u get used to it. excellent customer service, too...

If you buy any turbo kit, buy HRC. Nothing else compares.

These are the kind of recommendations I have consistently heard about Hahn. They *are* awesome for making us such a great kit. I had a somewhat different experience than most, but I think the HRC is probably still the best kit for a 2GNT.

My problems:
1) My kit was ordered before the price cuts, but the charge and shipment were made a week after the price drop. They charged me the old price, almost $1k more, anyways. Their accounting department has failed to resolve this problem.

2) They forgot to ship the instructions. Apparently due to "a new shipping person."

3) When re-requested, they shipped me the PT-cruiser instructions. 3 weeks and 3 phone calls from initial delivery, I got the right ones.

4) I got the wrong fuel system components, despite the correct one being requested on the order.

5) The fuel-pressure regulator has a design flaw. Mine (and several others') don't work properly because of it. Tech support refused to exchange it. This flaw can easily destroy the engine if left undetected.

6) My autometer boost gauge was defective. They did accept a mailed-in return/exchange.

7) The fuel pump is extremely loud, a known problem. I don't think this fact is made clear enough on the website or in the instructions.

8) The kit is supposed to be all-inclusive, but does not include new gaskets, a turbo timer, or a catch can. Arguably, these are optional (if you don't mind oil everywhere.)

9) I'm in California and their tech support is only open M-F 6AM-10AM. Often it's hard to get thru to them.

This is only my experiences... YMMV. I've spoken to several very helpful people in customer service, and most of my problems have (eventually) been addressed. I guess I just had higher expectations for a product that costs $3,000+.

my kid came with all the new gaskets required. you are suppose to re-use the exhaust manifold gasket. turbo timer and catch can are really worthless on a properly operating car. (just more hype). My car has NEVER spit more than like a couple of tea spoon fulls of oil out of the breather hose.......and I HAVE a catch can.

You have to factor in the price of each individual part and the technical support. The quality of product you are asking for is unheard of in the market today.

Try getting ANY of those problems corrected when you've got a STAR kit.

See my point?

Turbo timers keep the car working properly.

Turbo timers don't do a dang thing you can't do yourself.

They have nothing to do whatsoever with the proper operation of your turbocharged car.

That one kinda came outta nowhere. For my entertainment purposes, how do TT's keep the car working properly?

How can u tell it has a flaw? And how can u fix it?

Here's the senario...When you start the car up and your fuel pressure at full vacuum is 15 psi to low or high. Adjust the regulator to the proper pressure, drive it around. Start it up the next day and the pressure is scewed up again. You'll go nuts trying to get it set right. I think the easiest solution is to buy the kit without the FPR...then purchase a Vortech S-FMU to replace it. There are plenty of other brands of FPR on the market that would work (I only have experience with Vortech).

haha, no joke, i was reading the newcelica forum a while back and they were discussing whether their motor can handle a turbo and some guy said that everything will be fine as long as you get a turbo timer, i think he said it cools the engine off before it shuts down so it won't overheat or something to that effect, and yes he was serious, that's the bad thing about the internet :)

Turbo timers do jack shit on modern daily driven turbo setup cars except make cool noises and look pretty.

I guess I should add to this. The idea of the turbo timer was to let the turbo cool down after hard runs so that the oil does not coke in the turbo. Thsi could cause the turbo to seize and thus cause ti to fail. It would have no effect on reliability of the car or on the engine itself. Now that being said, modern syntetic oils have improved over the years and are not as susceptible to this type of breakdown. The only time I could phantom a true proper cooldown being necessary is for long extended periods of heavy use. In that type of situation you can just let it cool off manually. Sitting in traffic and normal driving is not heavy use. You have to really heat the turbo up to let it cool down. Get it? Hence my statement: turbo timers do nothing but look pretty.

Now...I have a turbo timer and I love it. I dont have time to sit in my car and wait for the turbo to cool down. No matter where I drive I still get on the car a little bit just to see if everything still works. TT's do have other functions, mine can do a whole bunch of crap...I use it manly for a volt display from my battery though. It was a lot easier to mount than a volt gauge cuz there is only soo much room for gauges in our cars without doing custom.
triple gauge pod and the double that goes by stock gauges.
I cant put a gauge anywhere else without doing custom shit and
the TT just sits right under my steering wheel where I can see it if I want to. I have the HKS type-1

The HKS Type-1 TT has an automatic...I guess it senses how hot the engine is and automatically sets what it think should be a good cool down period. I have seen my TT anywhere between 11seconds and 5mins at the most. I dont have to guess, its built in. =)
