damnnn thats awesome, that is going to be purse beast, did you make your manifold yourself? i havn't seen any others like it. Ah thats awesome, good work :thumbsup
hey do you have a site with all of your progress pictures from start to finish? I'm interested to see how it all came together, and give some info about your setup!
Are you using the 2.4L head or the 2.0L head? I thought i heard the 2.4L valve cover wouldn't fit right or something

That is going to be one hell of a first drive. I assume it's going to be a track car??? If so, do you have some slicks? I can't wait to see what that thing does.

Nice bro, I've always wanted to see an equal lenght on a 420A. Full-race should make one for the 2gnt :P like the one I have on my Honduh. Good luck man, that thing is going to pull like a mother.

that's the nicest manifold i've ever seen on our cars. Can't wait to see some dyno numbers.
|
89305, RE: Pictures of my 2.5L turbo setup! Almost there! Posted by BlackMagic, Sep-07-05 09:32 AM
that is a sick setup, so is that the 2.4 head or the 2.0 head, im assuming its the 2.4 head since i've heard the 2.4L valve cover will leak or won't line up right or something if used on the 2.0 head, yea i can't wait for some dyno/track numbers, hands down the sickest 2gnt thus far, so who made the manifold?

The head is a 2.0 I havent found any leaks thus far but I havent had it running long. Worst case she will get a 2.0 valvecover.

Well to be completely honest I lost track. It makes me sick to think about it but hopefully it will pay off. I am going to guess I have about 10k in mods on this car includig all the electronics. I bought the car back in 1999 for 5200 so alot of money.

OK, Now for the big question who did the work! The manifold, intercooler, downpipe and charge pipes were all custom made by Extreme Turbo Systems. Their website is www.extremeintercoolers.com or phone 360-263-3748. I personally dealt with JR and I couldnt have been more pleased. Not only are the products awsome, their customer service is even better. There is not one time I called them that I got an answering machine, and if JR wasnt there the person on the phone tried their best to answer my question. They are also upfront and honest, I was given an expected ship date and they stuck to it. No lame excuses that their welder broke or they couldnt get the material. As you can see from the pictures, they really put their heart into their product and it shows with the great detail in every piece. They also worked with me designing everything to my liking. If there was something I wanted to modify along the way they were very cooperative. Finally there is a company that is willing to work with us to fill our needs. I believe they will be offering manifolds and intercooler kits for our cars in the near future. Contact them for the details. I know this sounds like an advertisement but I was just blown away by this company.

HOLY OVER-SIZED PRIMARIES!!! Got my vote for the best burnout machine LOL! That thing is never going to hook up man, it's gonna be awesome! Any possibility that you will be tubbing it in the near future? You may need too. Also, what oil-pan is that, everyone I've seen on the 2.4 had to be cut and re-welded. P.S. I would consider some type of rubber guard mounted to the rear-view mirror, or at least don't do a burn-out withthe windows down!

like mine was

but if he doesn't need a downpipe for a track only car he's ok with a stock pan

its not a stroker.
longer rods, shorter pistons, but no...a .040 overbore on a stock 3.44 bore isnt quite 2500cc's
whateva though, no one is as technical about it like me i guess...

Wow, holy crap man it looks sweet. :love
My only questions really, can you even slide a piece of paper between the turbo and the radiator? And your not worried about motor flex rubbing/rubbing it through the fins?

In the OEM world, 2488cc is close enough to be called a 2.5L, just as 1996cc is close enough to be called a 2.0L.

well, in the real world...1L = 1000cc's.
"the OEM world" lol. because 40 thousandths over and alluminum rods are original equipment and all....
"close enough"...but no cigar
we've had this discussion before...you like rounding, but when i build a race motor...i dont
still badass though, i know first hand how beefy it is at even mild boost pressure.

if you went to a race track and used twelve syllables to describe the size of your motor you would get bitchslapped. "two point five liter" has a better ring then "two thousand four hundred and eighty eight ccs," and if you say "a bored over 2.4 liter" you just wouldn't get as many props.

i dont know about you man, but when im at the track i dont talk about the size of my motor. unlike some ricers i know who actually give a shit about 'props' and if it has a better freakin ring to it...:rolleyes
look, when i originally built MY motor, i wanted a 2.5L...as in 2500cc's or more, and i wasnt going to be happy with it PERSONALLY unless it was a true 2.5.
howell for one 'rounds up' with their "2.2L" but it wasnt really a 2.2. FTY had a true 2.2, and they even stated that it was over 2200cc's. dino is right, most car manufacturers round up as well. but these motors we have here are specifically designed to be beat the fuck out of..who cares about original equipment on a freakin race car?
im obviously talking about technicalities, but 2488 is not 2500...its really simple. like i said above...no one is like that but me, and apparently FTY...but whatever, its all good. i do it my way, you do it yours :cheers
good day, to each his own :thumbsup

Very nice....I have been looking at this for the last 20 minutes and my jaw is still on the ground. I am wondering where did you put the ECU??
|
89361, RE: Pictures of my 2.5L turbo setup! Almost there! Posted by extreme97nt, Sep-08-05 12:28 PM
OK well my fuse/relay panel is no longer in existance. I have relocated the fuses / relays to the inside firewall on the passenger side. I am nolonger using the factory ecu either. All MSnS. The manifold and turbo are all stainless steel so they will not rust. However if heat becomes an issue I will jet hot coat it. Thanks for all the complements. It makes my time and efforts worth wild. I hope to have everything ready for next season. I am debating on putting in a cage. That might be a winter project. I will post up pictures of the interior soon but I have little time to work on her due to my job.

|

yea that was my question too, especially in one of those pictures, it sticks out like crazy, it's as high as the valve cover, but it guess it does since you've got the hood on there

Well If I had the 2.0 it would close no problem. However the 2.4 is an inch taller. I might have to cut out some of the supports on the hood and then it will close.

89567, RE: Pictures of my 2.5L turbo setup! Almost there! Posted by BlackMagic, Sep-13-05 01:25 PM
yea but i dont think a big carbon fiber hood like that would flow well with his clean almost stock looking car, best bet is probably just modifying the stock hood which im guessing he's doing or has already done by now
