hey do any of you guys have a v-band clamp on your turbo? i'm just wondering if it's worthy buying an adapter along with the turbo and have the downpipe made with a v-band flange instead of the regular 4-bolt. (i'm lookin at getting a garrett gt3071r). i know the v-band eliminates the need for a gasket and is supposed to make it a lot easier to remove/install the downpipe. just wondering what you guys thought of it and if you think it's worth it... k thanks!

oh yea also since the adapter is 1.25" thick is it gonna make clearance with the rad pipe a problem? i'm goin with a star type manifold so the turbo's offset towards the drivers side (as opposed to centered hahn mani).

I run one, i think its worth it. it is close to the radiator hose, but i wrapped the DP with heat wrap, and wrapped the upper radiator hose in starter heat wrap and i haven't had a problem.

I run one with the HRC 3" DP. Works very nicely, doesn't leak and is easy as hell to put on compared to older HRC designs with the 3 bolts.

Yea the 3 bolt designe sucks my sack. Sui/Darkone did you have to weld the adapter straight to the turbo?

No. i bought a 5 bolt -> v-band adapter that attaches to the discharge flange with studs.

Nope. It clamps onto both the turbo and the downpipe in my case.

i think he was askin if you used a bolt-on adapter or if you welded on a v-band flange to your turbo

ATP sells pretty much any adapter you need. You can also find a 2.5" or 3" kit on 034efi.com for 45 bucks, they are weld on adapters. I think thats pretty reasonable.

My FP turbo has it welded directly to the turbo. I really like it because of the ease of removal and installation.
