89000, Hahn Turbo Kit
Posted by ctitalian1, Aug-26-05 03:44 PM
I recently sold my Yamaha Raptor 660R race ATV and now have some money saved up. Is it worth spending the $3400 and buying a complete Hahn Stage II w/ FMIC to use on my '97 GS with ATX? I have 73k miles or so. Or should I just save the money for whatever mods or car I decide to do in the future? I was thinking a WRX or RSX in a cpl years maybe.

It all depends man. Depends on a lot of things and its only something you can ultimately decide. If you plan on selling the car soon then yes save the money.

Turboing your car will take more money the just what you plan on spending on the brand new hahn stage 2 kit. You will run into issues, need to buy other odds and ends, gauges to monitor your engine to make sure its running properly under boost, properly upgrading your fuel...etc. So if you have $3400 I would find a used Hahn or Star stage 2 kit for about $2200 is what they normally go for and use the remander for the odds and ends and everything else I mentioned above...maybe a catback if you don't have one already.

So its up to you. I would research everything about turboin our cars if you haven't already. If you have then you already know everything I just wrote.

Good luck with your descision! :thumbsup

DONT buy a kit. Just piece it together yourself. I wish i would have when i bought mine. The fuel system hahn supplies is just going to be tossed out in the long run. Try and find a hahn manifold and turbo and then buy your fmic/piping & fuel system along with the little things to hook everything up. You'll save money.

Honestly, if you live can envision life without your eclipse, I say just save it and buy a turbo car from the factory. Less of a hassle. The atx is slow stock and even with a turbo stage 2. So unless you want a challenge and build up a car you can totally call your own, then I'd sell.

Please note I am those who can't live without their eclipses hence the reason why I have mine. :)

what if you can think of living without your eclipse but are drawn back to it everytime you look at it in all of its glory? does that mean, in reality, that you cant live without it?

Alright I just pieced together my own turbo kit, it has been a pain in the ass since I overlooked some small things. The big parts are easy to find, but you will need all kinds of small connectors, lines, and hoses, and then make some things here and there, and fuck around to get other things to fit, and then swear a lot when something doesn't work or fit. It sucks. I wish I would have gotten a kit, but once my car is running I have a feeling all my complaints will disappear.

Crap i quoted the wrong thing...this is for the guy who bought the kit and is wondering if a fuel line is supposed to come from the gas tank to the front of the car :scratch

Sounds like you are totally lost...you should search everything BEFORE you buy the kit or piece one together....Thats what i did. And now im piecing mine together, taking longer than expected and very frustrating but its coming along.

Oh and also i have the sickness too :/ Sometimes i find myself just walking outside to check on her....and realizing that i really need to get rid of the wheel gap :P

I dont think anyone here has seen my car yet...ill take a picture of it tomorrow.

hahaha... just wait til you get your turbo going. Mine is, and it will only spool to 1psi since my wastegate is stuck open, but even just listening to the whine and whistle of the turbo makes the whole thing worth it :D
