88737, How much for how long? Posted by Aggression, Aug-15-05 09:06 AM
My question is what is the most boost anyone member has ran on stock and built motor, and how long of a period of time with no issue?
I hit the track now and again and my car is a daily driver and I am all about reliability, but wanting the most boost while being reliable at the same time. Basically I want my cake and want to be able to eat it too!
Just curious on how much for how long have you gotten away with so far?

8psi seems to be the common number everybody runs, hahn racecraft says 8-9psi intercooled is okay, and if you have a low mileage car people have run 10-12psi on well kept 420As.

yea i wouldn't go above anymore than 9psi on stock internals if you really want to be reliable. On a built motor, sky's the limit man, just depends how you build it...

Yeah, i say 8psi, i blew my rings running 10psi for a few months. I hope to be running 20 psi. This topic hopefully gives everyone some info on boost levels and reliability, so i think this will be a good thread.

Hey Aggression, not trying to change the subject, but what do you run in the 1/4? At 7psi right? I'm starting to put together my own kit and am planning on running 7psi for a while, so I'm just curious as to how much faster your times were after you boosted? Thanks, Ryan

6-9 psi on stock for the first 3 1/2 years. 11-12 psi for the 4th and last year with no problems. I have built engine now, and am waiting to tune and turn up the boost once I get a new head on it.

5-8psi for 2 years on stock motor, didn't blow, I just rebuilt it. Now I'm boosting 10-13psi until I get bigger injectors on my built engine.
