8867, Ordered a one off clutch (and hopefully the last one) Posted by Stan2gnt, Nov-06-01 02:53 AM
LAST EDITED ON 06-Nov-01 AT 08:54 AM (PST)
Cost me $329 for a nonmodular set up. Its from Star Clutch (a different Star. AKA "SPEC" for those who hate Star hehe). They are located in Alabama and have experience with neons (two pluses: east coast and neon experience). They've been around 13yrs too. Its a design simular to the Clutch Masters stage 3 (same multi segmented carbon/kelvar disc type) but its Stage 2 in their catalog. For my (and high HP) applications its a slightly modified pressure plate over their regular stage 2 capable of handling 400hp. They have stage 3 ane 4 for other applications but claim to never have had the need to develop any further (than 400hp capabilities) with the neon clutch. I was impressed that I didn't have to go through the whole nonmodualr/modular sh*t, he knew exactly what I was talking about from the beginning. Anyway it will be here next week and I hope it works out since it saved me $130 over the CM stage 3 or 4 nonmodular and I dont have to fax my credit car info or wait for it to come from Cali. They make modular too for way less the CM.

Still using the neon flywheel. Their site is http://www.starclutch.com There isn't much on there except the catalog and contact info. I found out about them thru advertisements in Grassroots Motorsports magazine. They've been advetising there for at least a yr so I said what the heck. At this point one more shitty clutch is no big deal.
