88659, Very Simple questions about fuel tuning Posted by gilee_8, Aug-13-05 06:27 AM
I am using SFMU. So when I tune the static PSI, I unplug the hose, but do I set the fuel when the car is FULLY WARM UP? wait till the engine bay is FULL HOT HOT! Or what?
Because it seems like temperature has a big factor to my fuel curve. yesterday I thought I tune it really good, but yesterday is 97F here, and I am running really lean! then last nite, it's cool off, and my car is running RICH!
SO what's up with that???? Thanks, I need help! Gil

gilee, temp DOES play a part in tuning. mainly because of the air density.. you know the deal, cool air gooder - hot air badder. some of our cars just seem to be very tempermental to ambient temps. i know on my 8-inj set-up with the 034EFI when i tune on a hot day, i get fuel cut on cold mornings or over the winter. with my wideband, i would tune to a nice 11.3-11.5:1 on a hot night (80-90) and on a cool morning (60-70) i would hit in the 10.0-9.0:1 range..
as far as your setup, i dont know how sensative to temps running an SFMU would make your car, but over all temps do. maybe you just hit that majical line between lean and perfect in your tuning ...

COol, thanks for the quick reply Tim. I will try to re-tune more.
I mean, it's very frustrating that after a new rebuilt motor, I cannot even go on highway coz of HIGH EGT!!! it's annoying!
Thanks alot! Gil

I also run an SFMU, I had to play with it a lot to get her running right. The AFR changes with temperature is something you have to live with, no way around it. Just tune on the rich side and use the bleed screw, it really works.
