Some people asked me to take some pictures of my dual circuit oil cooler when I had a chance, so here they are.
I run a dual circuit. One feeds the turbo and one feeds the block. I also have a remote oil filter mounted just behind the bumper on the passenger side.

I don't get it. Why waste the money and engineering time plumbing a dual core just to have one side of it feed the turbo?

One side feeds the turbo and the other feeds the block. I wanted to cool oil in two different locations to help the entire system. Not only does the dual circuit cool both areas, but the remote oil filter cools the system as well. Its all about how cold can you make your oil.

Now DEI will probably release a CO2 charged cryogenic oil cooler at SEMA. I think "CryOil" has a nice ring to it.

as long as it doesn't get below 150* , do you have an oil temp hooked up? what's the reading?

dont remember off hand what my temps are. it does take awhile to get the oil to warm up thought. ill look tonight when i drive it.

If I remember correctly, as the one guy ^^^ already stated, nothing below 150 and no higher than 260. I could be wrong on the top end number ... but I think remember having a discussion with a mechanic a while ago and he was saying oil loses it's viscosity above 260.

yea its 270* for synthetic, 240* for regular, but i'm sure he runs synthetic

Its an interesting setup. It would be more effective if you could take it out from behind the intercooler and also not block the radiator. Many people mount these to the side in the place of the smic. As someone mentioned earlier it would be better to use stainless lines especially since the lines are running through a metal hole.

I haven't had any problems with the lines. This hasb een together for about 6 months now.
My oil temps are at 150 degrees.

But yes, Oil is most useful at an operating temp of 150*. High heat brakes down the oil faster than anything else so I don't see a problem with running that particular cooler. Go for a long ass 3rd,4th,5th gear pull full boost and see what your temps get up to. or do it twice and see if theres is much difference.
I just don't like hose clamps on pressurized rubber lines. I get up to 75-80psi at WOT and i don't know ho long i would trust them James. :shrug

It might look like rubber hose, but its not. Its high pressure hose from Napa.
Not only do I have two clamps on each connection, but there is also this brown goo'y shit on the connection which hardens to ensure its sealed.

why? the lines are specifically made to withstand those pressures. the only problem you might see is IF something were to hit them, they can cut...and leak out oil, but theyre protected and hiding pretty well so i personally dont think this is a problem.

combustion gas and crankcase gas break down and comprimise the oils ability to lubricate the internal parts of the engine. why do you think oil turns BLACK, dumbass? contamination, in other words...is really the reason you have to do oil changes. with the technology of oils these days, they dont breakdown nearly as easy as they used to and can withstand some pretty high oil temperatures (which is obviously not a problem in the case of siu)

I do agree with you, though, that contamination is really bad for oil. I would be willing to bet that the oil cooler isn't all that beneficial, at least if James changes his oil in a sane interval.

I change my oil every 2000 miles. Sometimes more frequent depending on if Im racing or not.
BTW.. When my car is fully warm, in 100 degree summer heat, my oil temps are baring 150 degrees.
