88526, Cold Air Intake I Made For 20g - Pictures

Some people asked for pics of my cold air intake I made for my 20g. Well, here they are.

So... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=7988856616&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT is the lame intake I bought for a non turbo Eclipse. It was a nice black to match the rest of my piping.

I took that pipe and another 3" intake pipe just like that one to create my cold air intake. The second pipe I had to cut, but hey.. it was all cheap.

Not only air my intake temps much lower than before, but the car actually feels like it has more power, perhaps because of the cooler air. Some people might stay screaming turbo lag, but I hit full boost at the same RPM as before and it spools just the same.

As youll notice in my sig pic, the intake sits right behind the hole in the front bumper. Im going to create some type of shield for the intake to ensure the tire doesn't kick crap at it.

Here are the other pics.

Thats what i was gonna say. That thing is sitting low, Just buy a bypass valve for it so you dont have this problem. Last thing you want is for that thing so suck up water. You can find em cheap on ebay. Looks nice though

I don't drive this car in the rain. The only time it gets wet is when its getting a bath and I don't use a pressure washer.

I did the same EXACT thing last fall. Only difference is my pipes are silver, but it looks the same from the top and the filter rests in the same place. Only problem I had was I had to relocate my horn to make room for the piping.

Oh, and I don't drive my car in the rain either ...:cheers

Looks good. However, correct me if I am wrong, but wont the air just be heated up when drawn through the compressor, rendering the "cold-air" pretty much useless?

Colder air hitting the compressor is still colder air.

What would be colder? Ram air hitting the intake the faster you go, or your intake sitting in your engine compartment without direct air.

I know what you are saying, but once its compressed, its heated up. It would be neat to get some temp readings on the compressed air somehow and test with and w/o the cold air intake on it.

The compressed air may ( and we dont know ) only be a couple degrees colder. But in racing etc, every litte but helps. Would be good to know either way I guess.

I did something similar just recently after my filter melted due to being so close the the exhaust mani. All I did was put the 90* elbow and connected a new filter to the bottom. So the filter is pointing straight down. Mine doesnt go all the way down though. It sits between the lower radiator hose and the inlet piping for the SMIC.
