If I take my stock non turbo exhuast and replace the cat and the muffler with turbo versions if that going to make my exhuast a turbo exhuast? I dont see why it shouldnt but I just want to be sure that Im not going to ruin shit trying to save some money on the exhaust.

ya you can use the cat back and cat from a gs-t(fwd).. but it's the same size piping and the gs-t has 2 resonators from what i remember. The only advantage of getting exhaust from the turbocars is if you keep your piping until the rear crossmember and use a gs-t muffler. Not gonna give you a whole lot of flow over stock...`it's worth the 20-40 you spend on the muffler, that's about it.

I thought you had to use a turbo cat with a turbo system, thought it was due to the high heat flowing through the exhuast. I could be way off though. If I dont have to get a turbo caat and muffler then it can wait, money is tight but I dont want to ruin my turbo because I pinched pennies in the wrong spot.

If you have a turbo, you don't want that exhaust anyway. You will most likely want 3" piping.

I never even thought about the pipe being different sizes. I am probably going to buy a cat and muffler then have a muffler shop make my pipes. Thanks for the help

Forget the cat. Buy a test pipe. It'll flow much better and you'll have better response and spool up time. If you have an area that tests for emissions, just bolt the cat back up for testing time.

Whoa there chip, the gst cayt is DIFFERENT from the gs/rs. I baught a test pipe off ebay for a gst thinking that the turbo one MUST be better. Ya well lets say that I learn fast. The flanges for our cayts are stirght where the flanges for the turbo cayt one is stight and the other is rotated 40 degrees to the right. Your better off just replacing the cayt back and banging out the cayt. Chances are your cayt is probally rusted to shit like mine was and you will end up having to cut the bolts and drill the cayt. Which happens to be carbon steel. Not a whole lot of fun going on there. Save up some money and go on ebay, buy a cool muffler for 40 bucks, then buy a regular cayt for 90 or so and go to a muffler shop and tell them that you want them on your car. 2.5 piping (most shops wont put any bigger on there) and you want almunized steel. It should all togather run about 200-250 depending on the shops labor costs, and you'll have a nice system that wont need to be replaced and all of the hard work is done for you. + when you get home you can bang out the cayt!!!

Sounds like a plan unless I can find a stock GS-T full exhuast. Im down to just needing the turbo and finishing the manifold (need the turbo to see what flange I need) to be done with my sey up. Im probably going to be done and ready to instll the turbo around November so I have a little time to look around for a GS-T exhaust and if I dont find one I will go the muffler shop route.

There are plenty of catbacks floating around as owners are trading in their cars. Check DSM trader...
