88071, how close is too close... upper rad hose ?'s

i got back from the shop today to take a look at my new tube mani.. the manifold looks great but the only thing i dont like is my wastegate location. the big round diaphragm on my tial sits directly under my upper rad hose and its way too close, literally 2mm or less. its not touching but i really dont think its gonna be okay. is there anything i can do as far as trying to re-route the hose? maybe make a stainless pipe? hopefully ill be able to take pics.. and show you guys how close this shit is!

You might be able to use some kind of stainless pipe, but remember that the hose needs to be flexable because the motor moves and the radiator does not.

You can also redirect the hose so it goes around the downpipe. If you have a stock radiator I'm not sure it's possible but heres how I did it.

Fluidyne radiator, weld a elbow onto it, custom hose, wrap it with thermo wrap from local store, no more problems!

Sorry about the old crappy phone pic:

Where did you get that thermo wrap? remember the brand name off chance? I need some but didn't see anything fitting at AutoZone.

Hey Dino,

Did you ever get my PM? But anyways, I used the same stuff (Thermo Tec) that is used for starters. It also comes with a bunch of steel connectors that work with radiator hoses.

silver, i cant redirect that hose. the radiator im using is just a high flow oem part. plus i still have ac in my car so all of those lines are in the way. anyways. i hacked off that old hose and kept about 2 inches of it on each end. with the rest of the hose, i went and got a custom s bend pipe out of stainless. so now i have a stainless radiator pipe with
the old pieces of hose to connect on each end. no more swelling. ill let you guys know how well it works!

you'll still need to wrap it or ceramic coat it. otherwise it will induct a lot of heat into your fluid.

good luck.
