Ok, I did a compression test for the first time today and got 185-185-175-175. I'm assuming the rings would be completely set by now. Are these numbers decent? I should be 185 across the board, corret? Can I expect to get that extra 10 within the next 650 miles? BTW plugs looked good when I pulled them, a few blueish specs on #3 and #4 but they were barely noticable. Here's how I did break in so far.
I let it idle for 15 mins the first time, shut it off and ran it again for 30-45 mins. Then I started driving it. The first time out I did not get on it at all, just a 5 mile easy cruise to ensure there were no leaks or breaks. Took it home and let it cool overnight. Then for the first 50 miles I drove it easy not going over 5000rpm, and only going to 5000rpm to let 3rd gear wind down. I did maybe 10-15 pulls in 2nd and 3rd gear letting the rpms wind down to around 2200rpm. Continued to drive it easy, without letting the motor see boost at all. At 100 miles I changed the oil and started to normal driving, only boosting when needed in normal driving, no hard pulls. After about 150, I got on it a few times, maybe 60% throttle, nothing over 5000RPM. Then after 300 I did one short pull at WOT in 2nd and 3rd, and I've pretty much been driving it easy still, getting on it A LITTLE BIT, every so often.
Anything wrong with what I have done? Should I continue to baby it or am I pretty much free to drive it as I like now? I'm going to change the oil again at 500. The oil has been staying very clean. I plan to change to synthetic at 1500.
