87623, Cheap or even free intercoolers Posted by OneSadRS, Jul-03-05 06:39 AM
Well i just though i would share this info will all of u. It applys mostly to the people that dont have alot of $$$ to spend on an Intercooler. Well heres what me and a friend did. You know those Izuzu and Mitsubishi (other makes too) moving trucks, the ones with the flip down cab to get to the engine. Well if u go to a Semi junkyard or use less legal means. (Wich i dont condone but some people prefer that) and find one there is the Handle on the side of the cab that u pull to lean it forward, well they have turbos and intercoolers, most likely the intercooler is too big but the good thing is u can cut it to whatever size u need and then cut and weld the sides back on (cant remember what they call alluminum welding...TIG???) My friend put one on his 91 GSX, he runs 18psi daily and can run up to 24. that intercooler works just fine. (He Made like 3 and put one on his GSX one on his Laser AWD turbo and sold the other for $100, not bad i'd say) You guys might think this is dumb or u might like the idea...i just thought i would put it out there for anyone whos interested. Thanks for your time, hope i helped someone...
Let me know what you think, Feedback is welcome, Positive or negative....hopefully more positive.... Any questions feel free to ask.
