I picked up my HAHN Stage 1 kit this morning, and have looked over the instructions and it doesnt seem to bad. Me (very basic knowledge) and my friend (has good experience with cars and turbo installs) are installing it this Saturday\Sunday.

Befor we dive into the fun :) I was just wondering if you guys have ANY advice on the install? Whats the most difficult part for you and any advice on making it easier.

I just wana go into this with as much information and advice as possible and ANY advice would be greatly greatly appreciated.

Keeping the boost turned down. But to make that easier you have to rebuild the motor.

Make sure that you've got ALL the parts you need! When I got my HRC Stage II kit I was missing parts. I also got 2 boxes of oil feed/return lines and essentially a whole box of other parts that I never needed and weren't even for the Eclipse kit. They say that they check everything twice before they ship the stuff. I would say that's not very accurate.

If you're missing anything, you've got 30 days to get them replaced. Otherwise they will charge you for 'em.

Like hedog said check every freeken part. They should give you a part check list just go down that, no matter how long it seems to take. My friend got a vortech sc for his ss and the check list had 1200 parts on it. It took him a week to check it all. Gotta love turbos.

4. plan on a few trips to home depot or local outo store for misc shit.

The hardest part i think will be taking off the exhaust manifold and exhaust piping. The bolts are prob going to be difficult to take off because they have been on so long and have been heated up and cooled down over and over and are probably extremely rusted on the threads. I would recomend cleaning up the bolts as best you can and putting "never cease" on any of the new bolts you install. Also when installing your return line for your turbo, I'm not sure how you are setting it up but if you are going to drill a hole in the oil pan. I would drain all the oil out through the drain bolt. Drop the oil pan drill the hole out as small as you can but the fitting fits. Then sauder all around the fitting on the inside and outside. Make sure there is no lose sauder.

My downpipe was a bitch to get off, even the sawsall didn't work we had to use a grinder with a cutting wheel. ALso make sure you have a 1 1/16" deep socket to take off the oil pressure sending unit to install your feed line it was stupid stuff like that which made my install take longer than it should have

like tim said twice, TAKE YOUR TIME. you dont wanna fuck anything up, trust me, it sucks. make sure you drop your pan and drill it for your drain line and make sure you get all the shavings out of the pan after yuo drill it. dont tighten yuor oil press sending unit too much, cuz it will strip out and make sure to use teflon tape or paste on all your threads, you dont want any small leaks. the exhaust manifold sucks, so have fun with that. and make sure to get a case or two, usually it makes the install easier :cheers

Most of the important points have already been covered... The HRC kit comes with some decent instructions, make sure you read them a few times before you even pop the hood. If you've got someone there who has converted a non-turbo before that will definitely help a lot.

Also, start planning on replacing some of the not-so-great stuff that they include with the kit... I'd suggest starting off with ordering a set of 4G63 exhaust manifold studs/nuts/washers. They will make the installation of the manifold easier and it will be substantially less likely to warp over time.

Don't forget to prime the oil feed line. The turbo will need oil immediately once exhaust gas starts flowing through it, so crank the engine over until clean oil starts squirting out then bolt the line on.

Lastly, make sure you run that new fuel system up to around 100-120 PSI (a syringe hooked to a vacuum hose works pretty good for faking the regulator out) before you start it up. Fuel leaks are dangerous and really suck, especially if one develops where the FPR return line hooks up to the hard line under the car. If there is a leak there it will leak even if the fuel system is not pressurized because it acts like a siphon.

Don't mean to hijack the thread but where can you get that 4g63 stud kit? I need it right away because your right, those hahn bolts are a pain in the ass to mess w/.

RRE i got em in like a week they were a lot cheaper than the dealer was asking even with shipping

yah like I said before the bolts on the exhaust were the hardest thing for me. Other then that take your time and don't rush because your excited.
