87437, vaccuum hoses collapsing? what to replace them with?
Posted by Dan Zeller, Jun-28-05 05:47 PM
I bought some clear vacuum hoses so I could see if they got plugged and stuff like that. But any of them that are close to the turbo or wastegate, complete collapse when the car is running. What can I replace them with that will stand up to heat better?

exaust = hot. pvc plastic hose and hot is a no no. Go to a local boat store and ask for lawrence fule feed/vent hose. I dont know what size you need but they make it in all differen't sizes and its good up to 350 degrees and 90 psi. Its like 3$ a foot. I used it to rerout my egr valve line, the one that carries the exaust fumes. Its been on the car for 3 months and I haven't had a problem yet.

I saw the same thing. I replaced mine with black rubber hose and it seems to be doing fine. Just regular black rubber vacuum lines from Pep Boys.

I too also use silicone hoses...pricy but durable.

I just use regular vac hose...but I have a problem on my external WG...it gets to hot and makes the hose brittle. I have to replace it often.

Silicone hose off the internet seems cheaper than the hoses they sell at local stores around here. 1/4" silicone hose is $1.50 /ft from ATP.

I tried doing the clear hose and it collapsed too. I just bought some vacuum hoses at pepboys and work great.
