87345, EGT gauge issues.... Posted by Ryan_Hes, Jun-27-05 08:34 AM
My new motor is in...
I am having issues with my EGt gague. It works perfectly when I give it power with the car off, however as soon as the engine fires up the guage needle pegs straight down....then I turn the car off and the needle will go to say...800 degrees..whatever the temp actually is. I even hooked the power and ground to the EGT gauge straight up to the battery so it wasn't "sharing" with other power or grounds...and even still....it will work when the engine isn't running, but not when it is.
The question I have is: Is this a sign of a probe going bad? Or does it sound more like an electrical problem. Any input is appreciated. HELP! I want to tune my built setup and the gauge is important! :)
p.s. Yes I searched, didn't have luck with this topic.
