87314, and another 420A is boosted.....finally!

Finally got to fire up my car today!
here is the turbo setup:

Garrett Hybrid T3 Turbo .89AR 55Trim
Made my own log style manifold
Turbonetics Deltagate mark 2
Vortech FMU 12:1
1g BOV
Walbro 255lph hp
Hayden Oil Cooler
1G SMIC
oil catch can
3” stainless mandrel bent turbo back
K&N cone filter
Greddy Turbo Timer
Autometer Ultra Lite Boost, A/F, and Pyrometer Gauges
Stainless braided oil feed and return lines

Now when I started it up, I have this white smoke with a bluish tint, coming out from the downpipe (which is as far as the exhaust is installed right now) this smoke comes after about a minute of idling. This is also a brand new turbo. My compression is 200-210 all across. Any ideas why the smoke? Also is it normal not to be able to build boost when parked? The boost gauge seems to only go to 0 from about 15 vacuum at idle.

Reving in neutral does not create any engine load and therefor no boost build up so yes, that is normal.

I am running stright pipe <no cayt or muffler> after a few min I get some smoke n shit from the motor + my exaust tip is always black. I wouldn't pay it too much mind... Unless you have the coolent lines hooked up to it and some coolent in getting into the exaust/intake.

i hope you've got silicone couplers, i've had my turbo on for about a week and blew one of those home depot plumbing jobs in half already, good luck with the car i hope you don't have as many issues as me so far

I have a silicone coupler on the intake mani., but the rest of my piping is from vatious turbo setups and rad hoses that I found at the wreckers. Most are off 1g Talons. The rad hose should be sweet because it is reinforced with fibres and hold 15-16psi every time the engine runs anyways. I am planning on making it look "prettier" when the rest of the car is done.

About the smoke, I took the downpipe off so I could see inside the turbo, after a few minutes, oil starts coming out the exhaust side of the trubo very slowly, hencce the blue smoke. What would cause this? Do I need to replace the seals in my turbo? I checked the return line, there is no restrictions in it.

Blown turbo seals. Replace them and hope the turbo isn't screwed.

It could be a seal. What size oil feed line do you use? Some people have internal oil leakage problems with anything bigger then -04AN(1/4 inch) feed line. If you're already using 1/4" line then its probably a bad seal.

EDIT: Oh, and congrats on getting boost. :cheers

Just for precaution, put a brace from your downpipe to your block. I broke my manifold in 1/2 this weekend due to no brace to help support the turbo. Other than that looks good.

could I put a restrictor in the line instead of buying another 6ft of stainless hose? It is currently -6an but it looks like there is a restrictor at the turbo inlet anyways?
