How to stop an oil leak???
I recently noticed oil leaking from my air filter. How can I make it stop and what is causing this problem??? There is even oil throughout my engine from the blow off valve blowing it out. This can NOT be a good thing. I replaced my PCV valve thinking that was the problem and still, the oil keeps flowing. What else can cause this???

LubriCation problems, yes - well 1st you need to dial that profec b to read 40 lbs, then side step it at 7000 rpms to get all that excess 'bad' oil out of the intake. Then once you have done that, just pull the crankcase breather out of the intake and attach it to a water bottle or a greddy catchcan if you got $ to blow.

What exactly will putting the breather in a water bottle do?? Clean all the oil out of the system?? Once I do that what will prevent the oil from getting back into the air filter?? If it did it once it will do it again. Could it be a problem with the turbocharger??

You need a catch Can.

Can I just put a little filter on the crankcase instead of getting a catchcan?? Will that work as effectivly??

You sure can toykilla but you will just be redirecting your problem to a different filter.:-) People buy breathers for their crankcases because some tree-hugger started the practice. You want to collect the oil that is being barfed up by your beast of an engine. You could use a kitten bowl to collect it but a water bottle would be more clean. Catchcans serve the double purpose of 'catching' oil and saving the planet. But they cost a few bucks. Look on the board to see where people installed them;-)

I have a 2 foot hose that is directed towards the ground. Any oil that comes out of the breather gets put on the street. I know it is evironmentaly right but I dont really care.

It also looks cool and some people (such as myself) arent blowing any oil out. I'm still waiting to see some significant oil near or around my breather.

What exactly can I do to fix the problem...a catchcan doesnt fix anything. It just prevents it from going somewhere it shouldnt. I losing a TON of oil and oil is expensive just every 3k miles, let alone another quart every week. What is causing the oil to come out the breather??? Why does mine blast out oil and other people I know with the same kit does not??? There has to be something I can fix to stop this mess. It is A LOT of oil...not just a little bit. I took off the pipe to the filter and there had to be a 1 liter (coke bottle top) worth of oil just sitting in the pipe ready to go through the turbo and everything else when I start the car. I need to fix this problem ASAP!!

Do a compression test then post your numbers. From there we can determine how much blow by you are getting.

TurboDaren...tomorrow I will do a compression test and post them. I hope you know what the numbers mean cuz I sure dont. I can put stuff on but I have a hard time fixing something thats broken. =/ Unless it just needs to be replaced. =)

haha at my first autox I had oil explode out of my weapon Rice breather and it got all over my engine. Engine bay temps go so hot it melted the damn filter casing too! Anyway if you don't want a mess get a catchcan. You can easily make a catch can. Heh here's a plan I have for my home made one, buy a small bottle of brake fluid and use it or dump in into a empty container. Then poke holes on the lide then cut a hole on the upper side of the bottle. Then tape, glue, whatever, the breather hose. :)

I have a Hahn kit with the same problem. Hahn said replace the PCV valve (the little L-shaped plastic elbow). I think satan charged me $7 for it. It's a REALLY cheezy check valve with a little plastic stopper on a flimsy spring. Mine was pretty gummed up with oil. I bet you could clean it with engine degreaser. Just make sure you can blow into it, but not suck.

The next thing they said to check was compression. Then they told me I wasn't qualified to talk to them any further about it :)

did the pvc thing and did a compression test...numbers are as followed. 1.2.3.4 155.150.150.150

did it again and got 165.150.150.150 for cylinders 1.2.3.4 in that order

those # look kind of low. they should be above 170 if I remember correctly. mine are around 200.
weren't you the one that was boosting 10-12psi on stock internals? that might have something to do with it.
did you notice any oil on the spark plugs?

I thought that was kinda low also (im pushing 9psi now) only did 12 for about an hour...10 for a day. I took the advice of you guys and dropped it down because I dont have money do a rebuild right now with all my fuel problems i am fixing. Anyways..I think its a low compression also but according to Chiltons book everything is good but I dont think they do compression tests with turbo's on their non turbo eclipse's.
