so after i swapped to a working speedo sensor, the car doesnt stall out in low gears, ie 1st and 2nd. now, anytime im going in 3rd or 4th and come into neutral, the car dies. do you think this could be a MAP problem or something? i dont get why it only does it in 3rd gear and above. when i come out of gear though, the RPMs go up and then come down super low and it tries to idle but it doesnt. that seems to think of a TPS or IAC or something? anyone have any idea?

Are you saying it dies while you're rolling and come out of a higher gear, or after you ran the car hard and pull to a stop in a high gear?

using a modern performance 60mm TB and stock cams. reset the computer about 150 miles ago.

Is there a filter in your missing link. I lost mine and had the same symptoms.

ive been using some steel wool in ML cuz cigarette filter always fly out when i boost and i dont have anymore synapse filters.

okay so now today it started stalling everytime i come out of gear into neutral or into any other gear downshifting. my fuel pressure is at about 15-16psi idle and im leaned out -14% on the safc for 1k rpm and -10% for 2k and -6% for 3k rpm. i dont know whats going on. im using steel wool in the ML until i get more synapse filters but this just started happening again since i fixed it before which was the speedo sensor. when it stalls out, sometimes it just sits and cranks and wont start sometimes, like its flooding or something, i dont know. when i push the clutch in the rpms shoot down super ass low. the only thing that comes to mind is a IAC, TPS or MAP problem. any help here now that i cant even drive the fucking thing??

Mike, when the RPM's shoot low what is the Vacuum reading on your gauge? Before you go replacing things the ML is poss a problem.

Remove the ML and go ahead and run through your RPM range. Do not boost for more than 2 seconds, otherwise the ECU will trigger a code and buck. It wont do it if it sees pos pressure for less than 2 secs. Just run through the gears fast.

If its fine like that, then baby it home so you dont boost and re-install the ML but with a filter or Get a FCD and get rid of the ML.

terry, i have the FCD that came with the star kit...
do you know what the wiring colors are for it? i will wire that up tomorrow and ditch the ML and see if that works. i was leaning towards the ML alot since i have had more probs with that piece of shit than anything....??

i dont remember what the boost gauge read tho when the rpms drop. usually they would go high first then shoot real low, usually the guage would be around like 5 to 0 though in hg's.

You know mike i never used the Star FCD so cant say for sure how to wire it up, hopefully someone here has used it. Typically when the injectors dump fuel you will have a low vacuum, leaner will rais the vacuum.

raise vacuum = higher vacuum numbers
lower vacuum = lower numbers closer to 0psi.

Send me a pm mike and I might have something for you to try.......kind of a secret trick.

oh ya, im leaned out to 14psi idle pressure and i even tried leaning out -22% on the afc.

Ditch the steel wool thats in your ML. I lost my filter so I went to Advance Auto and bought a foam lawn mower filter. It was $2. I tore a small piece off and stuck it in the ML. Hasn't fucked up since.
