Well before hahn had a downpipe for sale I went and had my downpipe made. I paid so much money for it and got a raw deal. the metal it was made out of SUX and the heat from the turbo output keeps melting holes all the way down the pipe! I have a t3/to4e turbo and need a nice downpipe.

Was it made of aluminum foil? Sounds like it was either made with some really shitty piping or you have a fuel problem.

i think it was aluminum foil. sheesh, a turbo should not be burning holes through a turbo!!! call them up and YELL!

If you want to buy the flanges and the mandrel bends you can come over sometime and we can weld you up a new one. Since we're denver local and all. Or you might ask ETX if he can convert one of his HRC downpipes to fit your needs.

it was made out of some very thin metel or the wrong metel i guess.. i went back and he fixed it 2x and got all pissy bout it and charged me more money after he said he would fix it for free... so i just wont go back to them nor recommend him to anyone! if i can find some pix of what it looked like before ill post..

as far as a new one i just want one that is gonna be srong and withstand the heat of the damn turbo! what types of metal u think i should use?

16 gauge mild steel... get 2 j bends from summit racing and you should be set.

If you got money to blow make a t-304 stainless downpipe, you can also get stainless bends from summit.

I can't even imagine what kind of metal would be melting in a downpipe. The exhaust, post-turbo, is signifigantly cooler than is it in the manifold.

I think you have a PVC downpipe. I don't even know what kind of a steel would melt like that, especially in a not-so-hot piece of exhaust.

I'm thinking its so thin a material that stress cracks have formed which overtime with blow through and all might appears as melted holes. There's no way if it was any kind of steel that it could melt just from exhaust fumes AFTER the turbo.

Still, what the fuck gauge piping did the asshole use? 30? :P

<on-topic comment>

Yeah, try having ETX make one for you, it won't fail.

aight.. i'll check out ETX and some other options and keep you guys posted.. and ya it definitely melted cause when i lifted the hood it was a hole with boiling steel dripping.. kinda funny cause i didnt think it would be able to get that hot.. .then the funny went away and now its just annoying ...as charlie brown would say..AARUUUGHHH!!
