86467, need to find a stainless steel flange for a turbo manifold Posted by extreme97nt, May-31-05 12:15 PM
I am looking for a stainless flange for the 420a bolt pattern/exhaust ports. I looked and searched but could not find a stainless one. Let me know what ya have. Thanks Paul

I'm about to draw one up in CAD...I drew a flange for a 4g63 intake manifold for a guy I know...and when we machined it, it fit perfect. Let me know if your interested and I'm send you the detail. Then all you will have to is find the material and a machine shop. Or I might be able to have one machined for ya too. Don't know how much it'll cost though. Probably just cover the cost of material and shipping and I can slide one or two flanges through our shop. I was thinking 304...but if you think there is something better let me know.

I am kind of just trying to get one in a hurry because the waterjet guy the shop doing the manifold for me uses is kind of backed up. Anyone know of any?

I just talked to my purchasing guy...he said material alone will be around 60 bucks for 304. YIKES IMO lol I forgot to figure in the turbo flange so that'll probably be another 20 or so.But elbows from mcmaster-carr are 8-9 dollars each, pretty cheap IMO.

kent, im interested, how much for both flanges? do you have any pics of his work?
and would this be 1/2in thick?

Well I had the guy quote a 3/8 x 4 x 14 chunk of 304 stainless just for a rough idea. And he come back with a price of 60 dollars and some change. Let me get it drawn up so I can get a a better idea of what I need and I'll have him requote the material. I plan on drawing it up this afternoon. If you want 1/2" that's what I will draw...but personally I think that's a little over kill. I think we used 1/2" for that 4g63 intake manifold...but we made that out of aluminum. I'll probably have a couple of them made and send on to you at cost (material only...I can't see that being much over 80 bucks). I can get the CNC machning done for free after hours as long as I don't abuse my privilges. If it fits nice...which I have no doubt it will...and other people want one I'll probably have to pay for machining too so that'll raise the cost considerably, probably at least $40.
You need a T3 flange right Chris? I don't have any pictures...but I'll see if I can get some.

Here's some pics I just took today of the 4g63 intake flange I drew up.

I actually drew it with nice radii on all the outside corners, but Ryan (the 4G guy) liked it with sharp corners better so he left them :shrug.
He also wanted me to post some pics of the completed manifold so I said I would. Even though not many ppl will here would be very interested. I think he just want to start getting his name out there.

He has a sick 1G AWD...putting out 400 to the wheels, so he says. It's super clean. He hasn't got a chance to dyno the new mani yet. I'm curious...but skeptical...heh. Ryan is just getting a DSM shop up and running. He has about 10 DSM's sitting out side waiting to get worked on but the past 2 days I've only seen him working on a chevy Malibu...whatever pays the bills I guess. LOL Ryan is a really cool 4G guy and gives me much respect for modding a 2GNT. I'm pretty much doing this work for free, just to help him out, it only cost me a little time. And who knows where it might lead in the future. :shrug
As for the exhaust flange for our beloved 420A I haven't had much time to work on it, I've been leaving work on time to go to Ryan's shop the past two days. But I have the overall dimensions and the ports in place but the bolt holes need to be tweaked in, and the outside shape need to be done yet...about an hour of work...I just gotta do it. I still think for the manifold and turbo flange the material will be about $80 for 304 SS.

send me the CAD drawing and I can make them at my shop. If you give me the drawing, I can get you a price for the flange mage 1/2" thick out of stainless.

off topic, but i really like that manifold on the 1g. he needs to make one for the 420a.

How did this become a topic about intake manifolds? Paul asked about a exhaust flange for a custom exhaust manifold...
Just get the flange from the above poster it worked fine for me
