86309, Need serious fuel setup help/advice before i keep buying things Posted by 95redESIat, May-24-05 01:13 PM
Ok, well i've finally decided to boost my 95 auto esi, pretty much i'm going to follow chris'(gsgoinfast) setup with a garrett t3 at 5-7 psi, 1g smic, custom fabbed log style manifold etc.
Anyhow, the only variance i was going to use was instead of using the 12:1 fmu and stock injectors i'm going for the classic sfmu with 30lb injectors and a walbro 255 setup.
As far as parts go, i have already purchased a used SFMU, what i need to know for that is i purchased the unit off of ebay for $60 knowing that it was missing the main adjuster screw but other than that i don't know what else is it missing, so if anyone has a parts diagram for the sfmu that would be great so i can see what other parts i am missing, also where can i get replacement parts(vortech's site doesn't have any)?
Then, i know where i'm going to get my fuel pump, but what injectors do i use, basically all i know is that they are ford 30 lb injectors, so what i am asking is, what vehicle should i get them out of, are they plug and run(or do they need resistors), what is a reasonable price for used ones(i'm on a budget), and how do i clean and inspect them before use?
Finally, You may be wondering, why hasn't this guy done any searching, well i have and i can't seem to find any direct answers, so my final question is, what is the best spring/disk/ring setup for my particular application sizes? and fuel pressures for vac, static, and boost would be awesome.
Sorry for being dumb and long winded but i just want to get things absolutly straght before i tear into things.
Thanks guys

get these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33554&item=7975726407&rd=1
I bought from this guy before...look for my feed back on ebay.
largest disk with dark spring and a bleed valve.
or you might be able to get away with 2nd largest without a bleed valve setup.
idle is about 20 psi. static should be around 40 I believe.
SQUAWWWWK! poly wants a cracker!

no real such thing as a straight ansewer. Most times you have to read something you don't really need to get to the ansewer you want. Nobodies setup is exactly the same. SO read until you eyes bleed, and who knows you might learn something :shrug.

If you are unsure about the condition of the S-FMU that you bought, I'm sure Vortech would service/rebuild it and replace the missing parts if you called them.

I called Vortech and have $60 worth of parts on their way...what i ordered should get me up and going and then some, it would have been $50 just for a rebuild but with my $60 i'm gonna upgrade to the bleed valve setup...so i think i'm getting away pretty well...$120 for a sfmu
Anyhow...I was just wondering if anyone else could give me adivce from their SFMU and 30lb experiences...thanks
