Just like the topic says... Anyone running one, or been in a car running one -and what do they think about it? I heard that it is supposed to be like a precision sc61, but with much less lag.

Honda people love the sc61 and have been well over 400whp with it.

Wanna know because monster turbo + megasquirt = wet dream.

the only problem really with our 2.0 is lag.

the turbo is fucking beautiful though, for a 2.4L.

How do you like the SC61? I feel like many people on this forum may have been scared away by hahn when they start looking at option to their new turbo upgrade.

I really would like to see some 420a's in 400whp but i feel like hahn scares many people away by telling them their 25g turbo turns your car into a track car.

Do it with the 25g, or even better, with something else, but lets get (well) over 400whp.

So lets get these big turbos on, tuned, and post the dyno graphs.

Have you ever seen a 25G? The thing is huge. It's overkill for a street driven car. Ask Derek (etx).

there are a few cars here that are capable of pushing 400hp, give it some time.

It seems tons of 420a people use turbos much larger than their engines are capable of utilizing efficently because they arn't able to boost above a certain level, due to other weakest links not direclty related to the turbo itself (i.e. a 25g won't give you 400 hp by itself, only lag). You will spend much more money trying to utilize the large turbo then you did to buy the large turbo.

i have also surmised that the gt28R is the best turbo for a 2.0L engine...

Which is why I'm sticking with the my trusty old 16G until I've tuned the hell out of it. After that, I've no idea what I'll get. Maybe a 20G, maybe a Disco Potato, maybe a GT30, I have no idea.

Just as early as last week I witnessed an EVO built by Switzer Innovation that put down a solid 544awhp with that turbo in conjunction to his custom fab work. Boost comes on in the mid to upper 4000 range, but hits like a jack hammer around 5400 with mild cams.

i got the s25g.ilike it, i can street drive with mild boost if i want to get on it. but if i slam the throttle, better watch out.


remember people, the more turbo lag, more chance for traction. i can boost in first gear, try that with your small turbo's, see how much traction you get

GT30R is the way to go.

I have the GT30 and it is probably the last turbo I will install on MY car...spools a little later than the 16g but is much more efficient-and doesnt require aftermarket cams.When I ordered it from Forced Performance, they were in the midst of tuning an awd 4g-aem, etc. @500whp on 93 octane.Its gotta alot of potential to say the least.

an s16G is not small..

yea, the gt30r, IMO the perfect marriage partner for a 420a

I love my SC61. There really isnt much lag and the high compression does help with what little lag there is. If Im in 1st and I launch, its great. When the rpm's it about 3500, man......

Traction on a fast car is simply about throttle control, there is no such thing as traction issues, only driver.

I was going to updrage to a 16G, but I got a SC-61 at a good price. I would never beleive the good deal I made. This turbo isn't laggy as I read in some DSM forums. The power band moved up in rpm band. If you have the chance to get a bigger turbo, just do it. And my SC-61 is customize, I have a .69 turbine and it is just GREAT!!

We need to start showing more dyno graphs of these big turbos. Spend the $50-100 on a couple of dyno runs, tune it and lets get the graphs posted.

So i'll try to start the trend and post mine from my s16g which i am looking to get rid of.

This is a S16G, smic, stock exhaust, stock head, 16psi with plently of boost creep. AFR's were perfect, the dyno's wideband was shot, so i used mine.

The car was detonating at 19psi mostly to do with the SMIC being heat soaked.

I feel like it should be possible to get 340-350whp on the S16G, of course not without megasquirt. But its time for a bigger turbo.

Yes, you can run that kind of numbers on a 16G. But for future plans and personal preference some people may select a bigger turbo.

yeah, thats because the garrett is truly a better turbo, less friction and a awesome compressor, why you think FP hybrid turbos kick so much ass? that garrett compressor is why
