85862, Finally, 3" Downpipes are complete!
Posted by etx, May-11-05 04:33 AM
Ok, I've finally finished building these things last night. I've been working on this for over 5 months! Double and tripple checked all fitments on a bone-stock 95 talon. I'll have the pics up tonight. They are 3" mild steel with High temp silicone powder coat and have a stainless steel 3" flex pipe on the lower part. Also they are only for the HRC turbo kits, But I could build an upper for the star if I had a star mani and turbo to test fit. Price is $290 + shipping. Minus the PC they are $270, and I can also install a 3" dump for $35. I'm offering the first two for $250, first come first serve. :)

Now, I'm not a master welder. These first two are a little rough around the beads, ya know. ;) But ill post picture of them asap. Also, this is not an attempt to compete with HRC. They are just a more cost effective piece, if you want to same some cash. If you want full SS pipe with tig welds get the HRC, I'm not here to compete with Bill and he has kids to feed. I think they look really great with the high temp silicone powder. Silicone powder is weird, it dosen't come out as smooth as regular powder. But it does not discolor! I put a coat on the DP i built for my car and it still looks like new after months of driving it every day.

I'll have an ordering page up soon also. And every pipes has a 30 day Derek fucked something up warranty. I spend a lot of time on each one, so they will all be solid. If you have any questions please post them here.

Paypal ;) wait until I get the pics up tonight. I have some shots of the downpipe installed on a stock 95 Talon with my hrc turbo and mani on it. Then I have some of the final product, with the PC on it.

Another thing I forgot to mention! AC, the pipe clears the AC Compressor. But, for it to clear the AC lines you have to bend them, and when I say bend them I mean bend them a lot. I'd also be a good idea to put some heat wrap on the lines, but that's up to you as the downpipes do not enclude any type of heat wrap. They do come with Upper and lower 3" sections, one 3" gasket and Turbo->Upper jam nuts, upper->lower bolts, and lower->cat bolts. One last thing, These being three inch pipes with three inch flanges it will NOT blot up to the stock Cat. You will need a 2.5" or 3" cat/test pipe. I would recommend picking one up from ERT. You could probably hack something up to the stock cat, but that's up to you. It's very possible you will need to remove the turbo to install the pipe on it, then reinstall the whole assembly as one like the HRC std pipe. Pics will be up asap!

So... How do you define a "HRC turbo kit"? The one with the 3 PITA studs like I have or the V band thing?

Yep, Three pita studs. The v-clamp comes with the HRC eliminator downpipe.

Here are the pics. The powder is silicone powder, very different from regular ceramic powder. It doesn't look like ceramic powder, and it's mostly there to avoid oxidation on the pipe. It does clean up real well and looks really nice. The one on my car looks like it was born yesterday. ;)

Also if anyone wants to save $10 when they order let me know. I have a task for you and it only takes about 5 minutes of your time. ;) I do not have an ordering page setup yet because i've been super busy at work. But my paypal address is etx313@gmail.com. Email or pm me with your full address before you order so I can calculate shipping costs and If anyone has any questions just shoot me an email or post your question here.

The first two are $250, $40 off the regular price of $290 because they are the first round. The welds aren't perfect in some spots, but they aren't bad. If you really care, I'd suggest waiting a bit and getting one at full price.

Edit: The upper section you see in the photos does not have any beads showing. That's only because I was bored and I ground it down. Others will not be lacking beads.

Cool, the cutout will sit right before the cat. I have one cutout in stock, but I'm waiting on flex pipes.

i might be interested later in the summer. You should work on that one for a star kit 3 incher. Then my whole thing will be 3 inches...around!

It looks way sick though. How touch is it to powdercoat that stuff. Is it something i could do to like..my exhaust mani by chance?
