Does anyone know of a tool to make beads on the ends of intercooler pipes to help keep them on? I've been told by a friend to take a pair of vice grips and notch one side and weld a hump on the other and work the pipe around but I was looking for something a little better.
Already asked Mac and Snap-on and no-dice there :shrug

Why would you want to restrict air flow by bending the pipe. Use intercooler couplers like everyone else.

he's talking about the lip at the end of the pipes. the couplers slide over a bend, and then the hose clamp holds it there.

I used JB Weld. Worked perfect.

I just welded a bead on the ends of the pipe on mine..

I spray the ends of my pipes with hairspray, then put the coupler on and tighten it....hairspray dries REALLY sticky.

It's called a bead former. It's like $400. I'm hoping to have mine by the end of June. Pretty nice if you make alot of pipes.

When I custom make pipes I just put a little tack weld *bubble* every 1/4" or so around the pipe ... it's not super pretty, but it's enough for a hose clamp to grad onto and it's hidden by a coupler anyway.

Sounds like welding a bead is the best alternative to buying a $400 piece of equipment!

I make alot of pipes, so it should come in handy for me. Not worth it for one set of pipes though. I still think its high.
