85495, May have possibly found a fuel system alternative, advice needed
Posted by 95redESIat, May-02-05 02:29 PM
I was doing some browsing today and I came across a fuel controller that claims to allow OBD 1&2 MAP sensor cars to run 440cc-500cc injectors on the stock ecu and no other sort of fuel hack.

Here is the site: http://userwww.sfsu.edu/~ecg/SMC/smcplus.htm

I was wondering if a system would allow us low boost guys to run bigger injectors without the SFMU, or a FMU and stock injectors.

Let me know what you guys think...because for $120 it sounds like a decent deal.

if your on low boost, whats the need to change to bigger injectors while up to like 6-7psi with stock injectors, you still run ruch?

well my thinking is that i may not stay at 6-7 psi forever and i might want a little expandability later on before going stand alone. also running the stock injectors means fuel pressures around 100psi at points...with this setup it would mean a little more control than a set rate and peace of mind knowing that your stock injectors(or entire fuel system) aren't going to fail due to high pressure and duty load.

Interesting, I wonder if it works like it says it does. It would be nice to have something like that to work my way into the turbo world. Anybody know if this is worth buying? I don't really know much about fuel tuning.

same thing as the SAFC but its not digital. It will still cause problems if you make too large of a correction to the Map sensor. the result will be timing advanced too far and detonation will be the bi-product.
