Well I have yet to drive my car yet after my rebuild this winter, but at idle, i puff a little white smoke out the ol' exhaust. its not alot, but its there. i thought it was maybe cuz the car wasnt at operating temp, but when it gets nice and hot and op temp, it isnt as much smoke, but its still there. i was wondering if my new rings/pistons (JE 8.6 and total seal rings) could cause this since the rings have not sealed yet? i slapped a brand new HG on and had the head decked and went with the arp head studs and everything was torqued to arp specs using that lube shit they provide for ya. any thoughts here would be appreciated. i searched around and found a forum about this, but it was never answred throughout it if new rings could cause it. thanks in advance.

white smoke is usually water or coolant... the rings have nothing to do with coolant or water unless there is something leaking. sorry i don't know much so i can't help ya any more... drive it and see if its consuming coolant... unless you don't mind tearing it down again and all i'd just drive it as long as it runs good otherwise.

Rings that aren't properly sealed would cause oil burning (blue smoke). White is coolant. I believe a bit of white smoke is normal though... Depends on the weather outside, when its colder the smoke is more noticable.

It could be condensation in your exhaust from sitting there for a while.

ya i started her up, stuck my face in my exhaust and i walked away with some black eyes, a massive headache and a nice aftertaste of RICH RICH gas smell, lol. i smell no coolant, just richness. next idea? lol

no other ideas?
