Ok.. granted this car sees mostly dyno time and track time and doesn't get the daily driving.. but damn.. Ive had this 20g for about 1.5 years and both the intake and exhaust have oil kicking out of them causing massive clouds of smoke.. Im talking A LOT of oil.

Looks like im rebuilding it....

Im going to invest in the new G30 turbo.... If thats the name.. can't remember.

I think you mean GT30 turbo. I'm getting ready to install a GT35R... mmm mmm good.

Keep in mind that when you install a different turbo that a very large portion of your fuel maps will need re-programmed. Not just tweaked a little, but completely overhauled.

If you want to buy another Super 20G, let me know... I have one that's in excellent, like new condition.

I'm glad to see you guys are getting the good turbos! The GT series are awesome..Make sure you get that little micron oil filter with the oil restrictor.

I imagine you guys will be purchasing a Tial 44mm wastegate and Tial BOV to compliment your new found happiness in the 30+ psi range! Believe me they are worth every penny..

A GT35R!!!!!!! GT40????????.......I would love to see some video clips of dyno pulls and drag runs with these two turbos bolted to a 4 cyl car. It would have to be a crazy setup.

Talked with HRC. Im going to buy a rebuild kit for the 20g and put it back together. If this turbo lasts the summer, Ill keep with it, but if it pops again, Ill go to the gt series turbos.

i bought a complete master rebuild kit from HRC.

rebuilt the turbo tonight.. put it on.. and its still throwing oil into my ic piping..

well, i spoke with hrc and they gave me a couple things to try.

Turbo8u.....where do you start to see boost? (I'm assuming you have a GT-35 or 40 from your response)

I figured out what was happening.

I have an vacuum system run to pull pressure out of my crank case. The line to the exhaust system was hooked up the oil catch can and then the catch can was hooked to the valve cover.

Well, there is plenty of suction going to the exhaust, but the moment you hook up the oil catch in between the exhaust and the valve cover, all pressure is lost.

Basically, I was not relieve my crank case pressure (which is what a PCV system does) and it was causing oil to shoot out anywhere it wanted to.

well thats good news! good thing you don't have to rebuild the turbo now

I know it doesn't make sense but thats what it is doing. Somehow im loosing pressure through the catch can. I checked the can, there isn't much to it and everything is tight, so i dont know what the deal is.

No worries, Im just going to take the can out of the loop.

That still wouldn't cause oil to kick out of your intake and exhaust sides of the turbo. The turbocharger has no connection to the crankcase.

Actually, by building positive pressure in the crank case, you can force oil out of any orifice.

Not only was my turbo leaking but the oil dip stick hole was too.

Oil pressure was shooting up my oil drain tube into the turbo.

It does happen and after speaking with Brad and Aron at HRC they confirm that it can happen.

Yeah, you're right... I wasn't thinking about the oil drain tube. I don't know what I was thinking.
