85168, can i safely run without wastegte.....
Posted by tim97rs, Apr-24-05 05:18 AM
by this i mean can i un-hook my wastegate so i dont build boost and fun that way for a few hundred miles. i have to take a trip and don't have a tach siganl right now for my EIC to give me extra fuel when in boost. this is because i was using the tach signal from my MSD that is kaput!
so should i be okay or should i just bite the bullet and splice into my factory tach signal again?
the only reason i shy away from that is i have enough extra shit that pulls a tach siganl that i will make my factory one not work....
and i leave tomorrow afternoon.

if you disconnect your wastegate, isn't that just going to build boost and never have anything to stop it because the wastegate won't open? or am i just retarded, which could very well be

you're retarded! :P :P actualy i should have clarified a bit more. i dont mean disconnect the vacuum source from the WG, which would do what you said, i mean disconnect the actual WG arm from the flapper so that it stays open all the time not allowing boost to build. does that make better sence?

Just hook in up to the stock tach signal and disconnect the other devices that are drawing from it so you don't lose your tachometer functions. Better yet, just install a new tach adapter!

Its fine. But just make sure you buy a new cotter pin, because you will probably break the old one when you take it out of the arm.
But seriously, doesnt it only take like 10 seconds to tap into a wire in the engine bay, lol.
