I'm making A DIY boost controller, anyone have any suggestions where to get the spring and bearing?

You could probably find an appropriate spring at Home Depot, but I'm not sure about a bearing. Manual boost controllers are so cheap, what gives you the drive to want to make one .... :scratch

I made one a long time ago and got everything at a good hardware store. If I remember right, you want to use 1/4" ball bearing, and find a spring that is not too tight, yet not too loose. Get several different springs to play around with. It's a lot easier to just buy a MBC like the Joe P, or Hallman, ect..but if you like to tinker and fabracate stuff, then by all means :) Dont forget to drill a tiny hole on the output side of the MBC too..

still cheaper to make your own. Get a spring from a pen and you can find tiny ball bearings from a bike shop. If you can't find any of these,then make yourself a bleeder type boost controller and hook it up this way. . It has worked great for me so far.

I basically have a star stage 2 kit. And I'm only getting 3-4 psi so I want to install a boost controller and bring the boost to 7psi. Can the boost controller be installed this way? WG to mbc to turbo?
 If you can not see the pic copy and paste and remove the space at the end .j pg to .jpg I've seen pics of it installed that way. Is there a reason why it shouldn't be installed that way?

You want to reference your boost controller off of an intake manifold source.
Your BOV, boost controller, and boost guage should all use an intake manifold vacuum port. You can use the same source if you want.
It is always best to tune off of the pressure that your manifold sees, because that is what your engine and fuel system sees also.
If you are using a boost contoller, you can plug the pressure port on your turbo.

Dave, that's the way most MBC's are hooked up. Depending on how well the MBC controls boost, some people have used a manifold boost source instead of the compressor housing, as this may help with boost fade, esp if you have several small boost leaks, or a FMIC with a pressure drop..When I used a MBC, I used a intake boost source, not the compressor, as this made for more stable boost control, and no fade or boost fall off at high rpm. I now use the Greddy Profec B Spec II, which i really like. It's a lot more fun to change boost from in the car at the turn of knob(and now going from a low to high boost setting with the remote steering wheel button :) )

So instead of running the line to the turbo run it to the intake manifold? Because I have bad boost fade in 1st and 2nd and high rpms and my JoeP mbc is hooked up to the wastegate and to the turbo.

I wouldn't use those cheap boost controllers I used to have on and then I realized its why I had boost spikes all the time. The little ball in it would get stuck when it cold or something and I would get spikes. I wouldn't risk engine damage because you cheaped out on a boost controller.
I bought a turbonetics after that worx great wish I knew where I put it now O_o'
