I am planning on turboing my car soon. I just bought a fuel pump from a 99 gsx. I plan on staying at a stage II. I am wondering if this is a direct replacement? OR does it have to be modified in any way? Thanks

why will it poop out at 10 psi? stock 99 GSX is set at 11-13 psi stock?

What size turbo are you using? Are you going to use stock injectors? Someone correct me if I'm wrong but don't gsx's use larger injectors requiring less fuel pressure? I don't know much about gsx fuel pumps but walbro's are tried and true and their only $100 I wouldn't risk it.

You also have a T-25 and 450cc injectors. For stage 2 with stock bottom end, the GSX pump should do fine, but it will be used so reliability may be an issue. Personally, I'd go with a Walbro or something equivalent.

Nope, usually just one or the other. You really don't need both, but you can run both and some may do that but its not needed. Usually people just run the walbro, plus the walbro isn't as loud.

A stock 99 GSX fuel pump will be a direct replacement, perfect fit - it will run extrememly silent and work perfectly for stage 2 boost levels. I ran that exact pump between 5 and 8psi for a year. My EGT's were always fine and my digital A/F always read a tad rich when I got on it...

I always ran it a tad rich and I never had any problems whatsoever. I would chose it over the walbro because of the noise. The walbro is a loud fucker, the GSX pump will be comletely silent. But if you ever plan to go over stage2....definitely get yourself a walbro. Y ou can't play around after you start boosting over 10psi...things get crazy.

Word, I installed my walbro this past weekend and you can hear it if you pay attention to listen for it, but with a week of driving I dont even hear it/pay attention to it

Thanks Ryan...I don't plan on going past stage 2 for a while, so I will be more than fine. I also went ahead and bought the GSX one, got a great deal on it ($25) I will definately upgrade to a better flowing pump once I build up and decide to turn up the boost. I think that for now, and my current plan, that gsx pump will be more than sufficient.

btw, Ryans pump is louder because he has no backseat

I dont know about a walboro being loud in a 95+ GST, GSX but I know on a 1g, the walboro fuel pump is SCREAMIN... personally for 100 bucks plus shipping for a walboro is a hell of a deal for what your getting. Sport the walboro 255 high pressure and dont fuck around that way you could always run up to 20+ lbs on that pump and still overflow. I run 22 psi on my GSX and im still running rich w/ 750 CC injectors

Man...my pump is loud, at idle at least. Once I start moving it quiets down a tad I suppose....but when people sit in my car - sometimes they mention "What is that noise" and I explain.

Also... I have learned that the pump is louder when there is less fuel in the tank..and with prices lately I haven't had over 1/4 for weeks...

Chris - I have no beackseat...but remember you set me up with insulation too. :)

i agree with you, i have a back seat and the pump is still loud as hell. you can hear from outside of the car as well. i can hear it over my radio when i have it fairly loud. and everyone asks what that whining noise is... but hey, sacrifices must be made in the name of power! :evilgrin
