I was reading the sfmu install instructions and it says you should cut the vacuum line going to the sfmu and put the included restrictor inline there. Is this neccessary? What does it do?

i dont know what it does, but i did it, lol.

to my understanding, it smooths out vaccum-boost transition.

i thought that the restrictor went on the bleed side of the regulator
or is that just on the cartech units

bleeder and vaccum restrictor are two different things. you can also use a bleeder on the SFMU.

the restrictor will simply even out the amount of pressure the sfmu sees from the motor. ensure that you install the restrictor with the smallest hole towards the sfmu.

btw. the restrictor goes in the main vaccum line that goes to it.

so its possible to have a restrictor on the in side and the out side of it

the cartechs only have you put it on the out side so that explains my confusion

Yeah I got a sfmu off eBay w/ no restrictor. I take it I should order one from vortech? or does someone know of a substitute from mcmaster or somewhere that won't cost me an arm and a leg?

I used a welding tip from autozone. Get a couple different sizes and experiment.

you can order the kit for the sfmu for like 30 bux i believe.
