I just won this auction on ebay for a turbo kit. I just wanted opinions on price. Is it too much or is it a good deal???

I know that the manifold won't fit the 420A since it's a turbo manifold but what I was thinking was that I could take the original turbo manifold which the seller is including, cut off the flange and have my friend who does welding weld that flange onto my 420A manifold after I cut the original flange off. I could sell the turbo racing header on ebay and probably make $100 back. I just wanted to know if overall it's a good deal. The seller said I could back out if I wanted because someone else was very interested. I just wanted some opinions. Should I buy it or pass? The seller will be waiting for my response today.

That's a pretty good deal for the IC, turbo, lines, and injectors. I'm not really understanding what you're saying with the mani, but if you can get it to work, that's a damn good deal. As long as the stuff is in good condition.

Thanks for the quick response. What I was saying with the manifold is that this guy that builds turbo kits for people on Automotive forums.com says that if you take our 420A manifold and a turbo manifold and cut off the flanges on both. All you have to do is weld the turbo flange on ours and you can use the manifold. There was another post on here about welding a 420a flange to a turbo manifold. It's ugly, but if he's a good welder and can get it to seal then more power to you. It raises questions from me about whether or not the welds will hold under the weight and heat of the turbo system, did he definately get it completely welded, etc. As far as if it's a good price, so long as the turbo is in good condition (just have replace seals and not the shaft or turbine blades) then for $500 it's a solid investment. I'd suggest selling both manifolds and the IC pipes (you'll want hard pipes anyways), as well as the down pipe. Keep the BOV, and make your decision as to whether or not you want the SMIC or a FMIC, then use the profits to rebuild the injectors, rebuild the turbo, buy a proper turbo manifold, and come up with hard pipes for the IC. You still have other things you need to buy, like fuel management, either a rising rate pressure regulator or stand-alone unit like a MegaSquirt, the fuel system (mine is somewhere in the realm of $500 all said and done), a down pipe, missing link or similiar, there are other things Im forgeting. You've got another $600-$900 in stuff to buy depending on how good a shopper you are (my fuel system is expensive cause I bought new stuff, you could find a lot of what I got used if you look)
I really hope this isn't your first turbo it ever, it's really hard on a guy to piece together his first kit. Either way, good luck and keep searching or asking if you have any questions :thumbsup

Wow, thanks for the reply. You really gave me some good advice. And yes this is my first turbo project. I'm still reading and learning more each day. I have a friend with a 99 GS-T with a Star kit so he's gonna be helping me with my turbo project this summer.
