I need a set of .040 ASAP and the only people who have them in stock are Wiseco. Are there any recomendations when going with Wiseco and going .040 over? My block is scratched and needs to be bored, and since the previous boring took .020 I would need to bore it to .040 over.

I just got some Wisecos. I've heard some good things and bad things about them. I took them to a performance shop along with the block and they mentioned that they looked really good and are great quality. I don't have everything together yet, so I can't tell you much. I plan on running 30+ psi (on a 4G63) and the shop owner said they should hold up just fine. He also said that he uses them quite often in other engines.

I have no experience with them what-so-ever, but I've seen many posts no here of people complaining about wiesco pistons for the 420a platform. Might wanna research it some, a lot of people are apparently unhappy with them.

thats because that certain person eyeballed the ring gap. i personally dont think they are that bad, most of my 4g buddies have them, and they make over 450whp

but I'm sure they'd work just fine if installed right.

Maybe so, but 185 across the board isn't really that bad when you consider the amount of overlap you get with Crower 2 cams on stock cam gears. Sure, rings were eyeballed, but some of us have the ability to tell the difference between 10, 20 and 30 thousandths of an inch, as we've worked with tolerances down to 5 ten-thousandths before. It's not that difficult to eyeball. :rolleyes

Sorry, I just can't find one legitimate reason to recommend someone eyeballing their rings when it's not that expensive to either get the right tools to do it or have a professional do it. Might as well get it done right the first time. :shrug

My father is an engineer by trade and if you told him that you could "eyeball the differenc in 20 and 40 thousandths" he'd laugh at you for a half hour straight.

As another option you may want to check into CP's. I've pounded the crap out of mine with 22psi and more. Even had instances with serious detonation when an injector fouled, but they are still consistant.
