I started the car the gauge was reading a steady -.009 @ idle.Is it supposed to be begative in value?Is it supposed to have .009?I thought it was like .900,.910,.870 and the like.I drove it a bit and the highest value I got was -.010 .I know I can't be that rich even w/ the safc and 440's.I got it leaned out to 50% on idle!Please help cause I wanna make sure this gauge aint faulty especially cause I just rebuilt my motor and I don't wanna do it again.Thanks.

Where is it grounding, and what wire do you have it tapped into?

Something must not be hooked up right. When you start the car up cold, expect to se .1V slowly rising...0.15, 0.20, 0.25, 0.30. Once it gets up into the 0.4 to 0.5V range, it should start cycling up and down. You may see a -0.009V or something during hard deceleration. If you see large negative values, then you definately have a bad ground.

oh hell no,well i guess i hooked it up right.i tapped the 02 sensor wire from another a/f (autometer) gauge that was already hooked up.well,i disconnected the old gauge and now it reads normal values,BUT,it went so high!it was basically at 1.999 then it stopped changing and just read 1. i'm like,when is this ever gonna end.the guys that did my rebuild said i blew my motor from running too rich!can you beleive that?well,i was puffing black smoke in the back end.he said my pistons looked real soaked in fuel.why am i running so rich?i got:
440's,safc,and 4:1 riser(w/ walbro)...1000-3000 rpm is leaned out at 50% and there's been no drop in the voltage.i know

Whats your fuel pressure? Thats important too. You have a Jumptronix A/F gage don't you? Where is your ground point? Do you have a voltmeter? You can hook the voltmeter in parallel with the Jumptronix to read a test source (like a 1.5V battery). That will tell you if everything is working OK. You should see 1.5-1.6V on both the voltmeter and A/F gage.

actually i have a modified autometer a/f gauge,but i disconnected it already and now i just have the digital a/f gauge.it's grounded well into the body and the power source is spliced into the same power source as the fcd.we scanned and got a code,P1296...says unknown code.we used a different scanner and it said the same thing only this time it said there's conflict in thePCM and that no info can be obtained.tried messing w/ it some more turns out i got a dead front 02 sensor.the rear 0ne read lean but i know i'm running rich cause anything less than 30% lean on the safc would almost stall the car.could one dead sensor cause a rich mixture?

Doesn't the FCD mess with the MAP sensor output to keep the ECU from freaking out when it sees boost? MAP sensor runs on 5 Volt power. If the FCD uses MAP sensor power, that would not be a good place to get power for the A/F gage. I'm grabbing at straws to try to offer advice. You might unhook the A/F gage and pull the battery cable to clear the ECU. Hook it back up and see if you get the same problems/codes without the A/F gage. Then maybe blame the O2 sensor.

yup,done it...guess it is the 02.that's 2 sets in 2 months...the things you do for boosting(sigh)....oh yeah,my fcd's getting power from a direct fuse tap.

How much do replacement o2 sensors cost? I always thought they were quite pricy, but have never actually priced them... Is there one thats better than another? I wouldnt mind replacing my 2 just for peace of mind.
