83351, is this boost spike Posted by baxsom, Mar-04-05 09:33 AM
ok this is what my car is doing
only in 5th gear at psi of 8ish or more if i am cruising not in boost and step on it the rpm's shoot up to around 7k then down the 4k then slowly raise back up if i ease the pedal down the boost goes up the rpms go up normally and no surging
i am using a profec B spec II with the highest psi memory on i have my warning limit set to 12 psi but to make sure that it wasnt hitting the warning and decreasing the boost i have the decrease % set to 0 the memory says that i never hit the warning psi limit though
will the profec remember spikes or only boost that it has seen for a couple of secs
thanks

it only remembers the max psi reached. if you hit 10 a week ago and hit only 5 since, it will still say 10 untill you clear it.

That's your clutch slipping.

DAMN DAMN DAMN
i thought it might be possible but that would explain why i cant find a vacuum leak anywhere when i use an air tank to pressurize the lines
oh well it is the stock clutch with 70K miles on it i have already been shopping around for a new one anyway looks like i am going to have to speed up the buying process

Yuppers, that's a clutch.
It explains why it only happens with an onset of a lot of power, and not when you get on it slowly.
Sorry man :(
